The cop is going to get convicted not because of the video. He's going to get convicted because he started espousing his narrative prematurely. Believe me, had him, his attorney and the PD not committed themselves to a bullshite story, they would have had a work around for the video too.

We haven't ever had this type of video before. Most cops do fine. Some people get killed but that's what happens when you pay your cops dick. This was murder bass on the video by mistakes happen, sometimes deadly mistakes, but I don't think that calls for being sentenced to life when we as the public asked them to go in that situation and don't pay them enough to be expected to be experts at what they do.

- I know y'all probably won't agree with it but it's definitely how I feel about it and I'm going to bed so don't feel the need to start a back and forth if you don't want to

Why? Is police violence on the rise nation wide? Are police shootings up nation wide? Are cops breaking more laws today than in the past? Are they more corrupt?

Does anyone know if any of this is true?

Forensics and ballistics will be counterbalanced by a former military service member who came back to serve his country as an LEO and just wanted to go home safe to his kids. It's a powerful narrative that a lot of people are inclined to believe on a faith basis.

He could be convicted of murder. But I'd guess he won't be.

Are we talking about the court of public opinion or an actual court?

Kelly Thomas' family disagrees.
James Boyd's family disagrees.

Faith is a powerful thing.

He'll be acquitted or convicted of a lesser charge.

No one knows. This is largely because police decline to report that information.

It would be pretty difficult to beat hard scientific data that lays out what happens. Emotional arguments are great for TV, not that great for juries, especially when they're going up against science.

That assumes juries are dispassionate rational people. They're not. And a lot of times, they're ignorant. It's why they're on the jury in the first place.

So we will just assume that it all is, creating the need for sweeping broad changes made to the police forces across America?

It seems irresponsible, to make the sweeping changes that so many are calling for based off a handful of high-profile cases.

Body cameras are something that I can absolutely agree with. They protect good cops and punish bad cops. All should be able to agree that's a net positive.

You'd be surprised. Whether guilty or not, OJ's team played to emotions. Fuhrman. If it doesn't fit, you must acquit.

What juries don't like are irrefutable liars. The fact this cop came out with his story to fast and got caught red handed apparently is what will set a jury off against him. More than the video.

And it works both ways. 2 quick stories, one on either side so I'm not accused of being one sided.

1. Police chase a robbery suspect from the scene to the guys house. He pulls into the driveway and runs into his house. Jury acquitted him because the cops never testified that they felt the hood of his car to feel if it was hot to verify it was his car, despite the fact that they had not lost visual of him. Ignorace.

2. Man charged with robbery. Shaky circumstantial evidence. Basically, man in video was black. Defendant was black. Man even produced evidence in the form of receipts showing he was out of town at the time. Jury convicted because they didn't like the dress suit the defendant's female attorney was wearing. Truth. Conviction later set aside however. But still shows the ignorance that can, at times, sit on juries.

If a police officer breaks the law he should pay for doing it. Period.

The way to stop these demonstrations is to sue the organizers, financiers and participants for damages. If there are riots and property is damaged or persons injured, they should go after the perps in civil court.

The so called DOJ won't touch them, but a tort lawyer just might.

Yeah, I lived in Charleston, there's no reason to have white cops policing most of North Charleston. It makes zero sense.

Are you crazy. Black cops patrolling black citizens would only lead to trouble. Have you ever seen training day? Denzel patrolling the hood is exactly how that would turn out. Or practically any city with a black mayor. Nothing but corruption.

Hopefully his body is strong enough to withstand at least a year's worth of daily prison beatings before eventually succumbing to his injuries.

Of course, he'll just be charged with involuntary manslaughter though and be sent to a fake prison where he is kept out of general population.
