Same here. If I drink 4 beers I go from a running nonsmoker to the Marlboro man.
I'm good until buzzed and someone else lights up

Yeah you can't make a legitimate post without a page full of cliches and memes. It's made me largely give up trying to be a decent poster. Sucks.

With the rant there is really no point in trying to be good/creative. The only threads that get a lot of responses are generic flame threads.
You could start a thread saying Rebels going to beat that Bulldog arse Tonight and it would get to 10 pages.

I can't stand cigarettes when I'm sober, but drunk they are the absolute best thing ever. I realize this isn't groundbreaking stuff.

Yeah they only time I'll even start threads on the rant anymore really is during football season and then just to make flame threads basically. If I'm gonna do it I usually try to bring the wood though.

I'm largely apathetic and indifferent. That might not be much better.

I get annoyed when people don't listen to me. Not necessarily on here, but in real life. Time after time I am proven to be correct in my assessment and ultimate decisions on course of action but nobody will listen. Ultimately we end up saying oh ya I guess we should have (insert whatever it was I told them to do) instead.

Being too open minded is pretty dumb as well. I see a lot of college students and liberals like this. They don't wanna step on anyone's toes. But the fact is, some things are stupid and half-baked.

It's not that I'm too open minded, there's just a lot of issues that I don't care enough about either way to take a stance.
Like gay marriage. I don't care if they are granted the right to marry, it's not gonna bother me. But I also don't care about the issue enough to try and use my time to argue for it. I just see it as not my problem.
It might be insensitive, and maybe I'll come around one day.

Not even on a vacation to the beach? OBReb would say she is dumb then.
Not even then. Guess a few too many times passing by the Lagos open air market will do that to you.
What about other traditional Nigerian foods you ask? Well she doesn't want to eat dog or rat either.

Do they eat bush meat in Nigeria?

No idea. She did say they would pass by all sorts of dudes roasting dog or rat or something else on the side of the road when she rode the bus to school every day. She lived in an oil compound, but the American School was in downtown Lagos.

In this scenario, you're conflating open-mindedness with political self-loathing. I was speaking more to the concept of not closing yourself off to taking a stance on something different from yours on practically everything because you deal in absolutes and see complex situations as simple.

^^^^this is how I feel on several issues as well.

I'm talking about the people who think every cause and every lifestyle is legitimate. You could go to Harvard University and shave you eyebrows off, and tell people you're doing it for Darfur and people will support you and think that's awesome. I'm not joking. I've seen it.

Yeah, but that's not open-mindedness, that's just being an obnoxious self-loather.

Yeah it's gotten ridiculous. It's not "brave" to show up to school decked out in your brony gear, it's willingly putting yourself on the front lines of ridicule.
That doesn't give anyone an excuse to bully people, but don't glorify the kid either.
