Guess I'm racist now.
Not at all. The CFA by my house will tell a lazy azz white kid to GTFO in favor of some kid adopted from Kenya two weeks ago that actually gives a shite about doing a good job.
He may not know the difference between regular Dr. Pepper and Diet Dr. Pepper but neither do I.

Walked into that one.

I wonder what the difference between the two chains is? Managerial leadership? Hiring higher quality employees?
Surely there must be an obvious explanation
I think we all know what that explanation is...

I think Chick-Fil-A usually hires younger employees that don't plan on working in a fast food restaurant their whole lives. McDonalds hires older employees that seem to lack motivation.
There's also another difference that everyone notices but hasn't said yet in the thread

Never, but I mean it's fricking fast food. Give me a chicken sandwich and some fries and I am good to go.

I think people who can handle these situations deserve the $15/hr wage.
They deserve what the market will pay. If it's $15/hr. that's great … but if it's lower, these people should stop griping and get back to serving the food.

Once wrong on children's meal; but, they gave me it AND the correct order, too for no extra charge.

Never. It's amazing that Subway and Izzo's even screw up more and they make it in front of your face.
My only issues with chik-fil-a are their locations near me are in such crazy traffic areas that they take forever to get to and that they get so much business that I have to wait in a long line for food.
They are so successful at being quick, delicious, efficient, and at having impeccable service that I have to wait longer than I can afford to for it
P.S. also, my SO is allergic to peanuts, so since she can't eat it, I don't get to have it as often

Even your post doesn't address the other, most significant reason Chick fil A and their workers excel and everyone else is, well, left behind.

I don't know that they ever have messed up an order but every Sunday when I go there, the A-holes won't take my order at the drive thru and the the doors locked.
Weirdest thing. I've just about decided to stop going there Sundays from now on.

The biggest difference is the commitment franchisees must make before being given a franchise. Not sure if it's still the case, but they used to make you work in a store for at least 2 years before you could get a franchise. This makes the owners more invested in the success of the store, and often times when you walk into a CFA the owners are working behind the counter right next to their employees.
