This (Syria- Sunni predominant)is on one border of Iraq, Iran (shiaa predominant) is on the other. Iraq is about a 40 / 60% mix and is seeing higher sectarian violence #s since 2006.
Whole lot of why and why not going on with our involvement to say the least..

Should America go on a Crusade? I'd rather let the animals destroy each other. But since we have foreign interests to protect, that's not an option. Since diplomacy is clearly a fruitless endeavor, I say we stop fricking around, let Israel off its leash, and go burn the nests where these cockroaches are spawned.
Should we forbid the teaching of Islam? No, this is America, and freedom of religion is an inalienable right. However, Muslims should have to abide by the same laws as anyone else. They should not be a protected class, and we shouldn't have to walk on eggshells because we might hurt their delicate feelings.
Please reference to infamous South Park image of Mohammed episode as an example of what I'm talking about.

Then I don't see what the debate or argument these threads are over every time (you just seem to be in a lot of the ones I have looked at).
Should we go after all of the violent radical Muslims, I don't know anyone who would say no. I will leave the determination of whether or not all Sunni's fall in that category or not to someone else.
I understand where people say they are a protected class but don't see it myself. And yes I have seen the episode. Maybe the gov. stepped in and told them not to show it, but I doubt it.

Of course, here and now Islamic extremists are the most violent people doing their evil deeds in the name of religion. Should we condemn the religion and all those who practice it, or give it a chance to possibly evolve into a more peaceful and accepting faith, as Christianity has done.

OF COURSE NOT and I know this probably better than many of you since my Aunt is a Muslim from Cairo, Egypt.
But to not say "hey these people are getting out of control and need to be reigned in" is a detriment and a lie you tell yourself to be PC and not to step on anyone's toes.
Imagine if when the Christians were doing their stuff if their had been words from the wise to quell them a bit and not let those people run free reign ... where would we be today?
