Some of them know the real reason why it was added to the statehouse back in 1961.lol. They finally realizing it, it was added to fight against integration. That's why some republicans are saying it's time for it to come down. Lets keep it real. If it wasn't for the fight against segregation, that flag would have never been put up at the capitol. People fail to realize that.

People fail to realize that the issue was resolved in the early 90s when they came to a compromise with the NAACP and removed the flag from the top of the state house, and moved it to fly on the site of the confederate soldiers memorial.

If it was on the state house I would support it's removal...but being by the memorial to me seems like an appropriate location.

NAACP doesn't speak for all blacks just like conservative citizens council don't speak for all whites. I don't know of any blacks that are members of NAACP

And it was moved in 2000.

It was added to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the civil war

People that like to talk about this issue usually don't know what they're talking about. Half the articles I've read say that the flag is either still on top of the dome or was put at the confederate memorial in 1961.

Taking the flag down will do jack shite. Its just something that the news networks can get people to watch that they had to pivot to since there weren't any riots

It's time.

I'm just ready for everyone to stfu talking about it .... it's bullshite.

Time to move-on until the lefties find their next bunch of bullshite to misdirect the sheeple away from the things that are really important.

I consider many of our reps in SC pussies for allowing this to happen so easily though - the vote should have been closers. I watched the debate today - it was a bunch of bullshite politically correct grandstanding.

But they are the ones pushing for its removal and reneged on the 2000 compromise right after the flag was moved.

Like I said, most people (including you) that like to talk about this usually don't know what they're talking about and just like to feel superior because they think they have moral highground or the real facts about it.

I blame post Civil War generations in The South for using this flag in the wrong ways out of their own ignorance and racist nature.

What an essential and important piece to the American puzzle, now totally lost.

Talking about why it was added in the first place....it was moved because it had no business flying over a state govt building, lost the damn war....we don't fly the flag of the UK over the white house or U.S. Capitol....

Yes it was moved, but isn't it still on govt property?? Same people saying it's just a flag would sure as hell be pissed if Obama put a damn gay rights flag on U.S. govt property or put up the UK flag on U.S. Govt property....don't sit here and say you wouldn't.

Sorta like your KKK friends that support it. Now go tell them to stop misrepresenting the flag when they march at the SC capitol. Take some videos of yourself telling them to stop using the flag for hate. Bet you won't do it.

You're apart of the U.S., not some damn Confederate States of America!

Thank you. Not hard to figure out when the flag became popular. Everybody down south knows why it was used at certain rally's in the 1950's-60's. We didn't see the flag at political rally's in the 1900's, didn't see the flag at political rally's during WWI or WWII, they didn't waive the confederate flag when people ran for governor in the 1940's. For some reason it became popular and near and dear to some people's heart during the 1950's and 1960's.

ETA:: in my part of the state we have a thing called Bushwacker days...yes those were people that fought for the Confederates, supported the south, slavery, etc. Nobody complains because they celebrate the history and not use it for HATE....hell in NW Missouri there's towns that have Jesse James day...and we know who they supported and fought with. So to say people are picking on confederate history is wrong...people are going after the people that use it for hate, segregation, racism, etc.

Buswacker days, you'll see confederate flags...

Scroll down they even have a part on "buffalo soldiers". Parade is not meant to divide people.

Nah .... it didn't bother me a bit. frick'em all. frick everybody. As long as I get my government check so that I can keep using it as my mad money to by arms and ammo and good liqour and cigards .... I could gaf.

We're moving our flag pole from the front yard to the back yard so that everyone can see the new, bigger, Confederate flag we're going to be flying from the lake. So many yankees living on this lake now that the evil old white man side of me just can't help myself.

I'm also going to be playing Dixie really loud on the loudspeakers on Saturdays all summer.

Charleston would be a great site, as would Greenville. If UNC or Duke are playing, it'll be packed

Damn they banned private citizens from owning the flag too? That's too far IMO.

And there have been groups that have protested the flag being there since 2000. I went to one in 2007.

That's a broad assumption to make.
