The Bible is clear that the Earth, as a physical form existed before the creation story. Most English translations have it as saying that "the Earth was formless and void, and that darkness was over the face of the deep". In the original Hebrew it states it as closer to "chaos was over the face of the earth". As in a total lack of order. Sounds similar to what you are describing. It is not an uncommon theory among Christian theologians and scientists that this is as many as the 5th creation. Revelations also says that after the apocalypse the Earth will be "made new".

The goal of the scientific method is to substantiate a scientific theory by providing observable, demonstrable or reproducible evidence. Without this evidence, a theory can never be more than philosophy.

The scientific method works to prove or disprove theories about the natural world. It is incumbent upon those who think a supernatural world exists to prove it. The scientific method can only disprove it.
