Yeah this does nothing to disprove the BB.

universe existed before the big bang anyways. just in a different form. this isn't news.

Agreed, but the stuff that comes later is pretty good too.
We know very little about the Cosmos, from a scientific standpoint. What happened with the creation of all the matter, energy, and galaxies that we can see or theorize could have happened or will happen 100 Zillion times over at far greater distances than we even have words to measure.
There could've essentially have been or will be 100 zillion "big bang" type of events or it could just be ample amounts of energy and matter everywhere. There is no real absolute way to measure or understand the depth of the cosmos.

That's why it's futile to search for a beginning, to anything really. We exist in a dynamic Universe, which is part of an ever-changing Multiverse. The depth of knowledge available to us is unlimited. We should pursue it with all vigor.

Yes, that's likely.

Not yet, at least.

I am a Christian (not saying I act like it all the time) and (of course) believe in God.
I can kind of understand something that has no end, but I sure struggle when I contemplate something that IS, that had no beginning.
Guess that's what faith is for.

And Pantheism.

So the universe just always is and always was? Sounds like the universe is God.

Pantheism. Damn it.

Pan didn't exist.
Neither did his labyrinth.

Pantheism - the belief that pans are gods

And always will be. To understand nature we need to step out of the human box and look around. We have been too busy framing that which is with the limited input we get from our feeble senses and then processing it with our selfish interests in mind.
We are just a part, a product, of nature. We don't have dominion over it. We are the first species, on earth at least, that can contemplate the act of being conscious and the organ that generates it.
While the amount of information available to us seems overwhelming, we don't have to ponder every piece of it. All we need to do is to learn to quantify knowledge; to discern order where there is seeming entropy.
When we learn to do this we can take the macro steps needed to understand the Universe and its progenitor(s), or the micro reductions that can lead us to the base of all that is.
I rather suspect it's a circle.

That's always been my stance. There was never a "starting point" for the universe, it just constantly expands and recycles. Since we aren't really capable of fathoming infinity, we have always had the urge to place a beginning be it big bang/creationism.

It amuses me how much some folks (on both sides) care about this, tbh
Why? It's normal human nature to ponder and question the purpose and nature of life and death.
What amuses me is how much some folks care about reality tv, social media, and celebrity.

Answer: No one knows
This. Just a matter of faith.
I don't really see why people argue about it either. No one is going to come close to a solid proven explanation with the little information we know.
It's basically just a giant pissing match.

This is where I come down (as a Christian).
Ultimately, it doesn't really matter to me where/when/how/if there is a beginning to the universe. I believe the Bible, but it doesn't bother me if someone believes something else. What matters is what we do with the finite period of time we have here.
My personal ethos ain't changing based upon how old the universe is

Oh, please. The "scientific community" has no interest in mocking religion.
There's some that believe that's a scientists only purpose. Of course that changes once they need something as simple as say antibiotics.
Trying to understand the universe =/= trying to disprove a God.
