Im 28, most of the people in my class that are majoring in accounting are around the same age. we have a few that are like 22 and so and then some that are 40ish. It was like some weird shake out once you got through the weed out classes that mostly older students were left.

The machine's power today is only in that they control SGA which "represents" the student body to university admins.
They control SGA because they are an organized voting bloc who shows up to vote.
If every business school student banded together and made a voting block, "The Machine" couldn't stop them from winning everything.

I have no idea what to expect in my EE/OE classes except that all of my instructors will be foreign with terrible English. Not really worried about it, though, I'm working on the degree for shits and giggles, not trying to get a job.

To be quite honest, I'm kinda indifferent to the whole thing. I guess it's because I'm about to graduate, or I have a different perception on what it's like to be black at Alabama, but I just can't get behind it.
Maybe if this had happened my freshman year. I don't know.

Dear children(protesting students),
Concerning your demands. College is a place to grow up and to hear and discuss opposing viewpoints. We will not be segregating races and using divisive tactics, as you seek. We would however, support a multi-racial panel to discuss student concerns.
In regards the "machine". Being an active participant in student elections will take care of any perceived voting block.
In conclusion, try to think for yourselves for a change and grow the frick up.

Futile effort on their part at U of A. The administration there will never cave to any stupid demands that they come up with. Paul Bryant Jr will ensure they all get expelled before that happens
