I have color, too. It ranges between stark white, peach, and tan. Totally colors.
They mean non-whites.

This is so stupid. "Machine" has power but it isn't because any preferential treatment or shady stuff.
Maybe, maybe not. And again, it's about perception. The University sells the Greek life as part of the campus experience. The houses are in prominent locations on campus. It's impossible to ignore their prominence on campus, yet they are largely still exclusionary to blacks, and for many years the administration sat idly by while they were 100% exclusionary. So that came come off as giving them preferential treatment.
And I think when we're talking about "the machine", we're talking about the Greek system as a whole.

I love that all of these groups are making demands for the creation of this or that, and increased funding for this and that, and hiring of all of these new positions, etc. with absolutely zero thought as to where that money will come from.

The machine is a political party at this point. Has no real power in the university
That's not entirely true. They hold a lot of power when it comes to student matters. The SGA is still stacked with Machine backed candidates, as evidenced by their butthurt over losing the SGA Presidential race and blocking the winner's chief of staff nomination.
I agree they could easily be squashed if the rest of the student body actually voted in the elections.

Whew, I thought this was a BLM protest.

100% exclusionary? Every black girl that rushed in 2014 got a bid at an IFC sorority

People rarely turn out for elections that can actually have an impact (ie state and local), why would students take time to vote in something utterly useless?

They want them to admit that there is a voting block?
Does anyone else see the irony in Democrats opposing a voting bloc?
And seriously, a colored only section of the student center? How the frick is that even legal in 2015?

Go back and read my sentence again. I said for many years they were 100% exclusionary. It wasn't until recently they started admitting blacks. And that is only the sororities. Many of the frats are still 100% exclusionary of blacks.

Pretty sure separate is not equal according to the courts.

It'll just re-start the circle, as the BLM will then protest that they should be given free tuition along with room & board. Hell they'll probably want every white student to personally have to deliver a black student with a tuition check before each semester.

And I guess I'll add I think some of those "demnds" are stupid, and phrasing it as "demands" is even more stupid.

who cares? why do people want to be part of an origination that doesn't want them?

Fair point. I never did, but my nephew is in school at Bama and is somewhat involved in campus politics and he tells me about the goings on.
It's also been written about in the papers, and I've read the articles.

Im an officer in a couple of organizations and I barely even pay attention to the politics in the club. I mainly enjoy the social benefits

I'm taking 6 hours next semester at UAH, getting another degree. I'm going to be a 29 year old white hippie in classes full of 20 year old Asians, it ought to be a blast.
