In the US, 99% of commercials show the African American in a better light compared to a white person. Just start watching. You'll be amazed.
Most of the time, the AA is the boss or the person in charge. The white person is the waiter... the black person is the customer. It's this way almost everytime in commercials.
The current Nationwide Insurance commercial highlights all the ways people sidetrack themselves to avoid having to deal with insurance. So of course the whacky white people are running around like crazy people in their yard while the cool, calm, and collected African American couple watches them across the street and talks about how all their insurance needs have already been handled while they look out the window and sip coffee.
Not that that's a problem. But it goes to show how careful companies in the United States have become in order to avoid the race hustlers knocking on their door for a handout in order to not call for a boycott.

Its all camouflage for white privilege. We have to let the rest of humanity feel good about themselves somehow. So whitely clowns it up in commercials.
Its the same with men and women in commercials. Ever see the liberty mutual auto insurance commercial with a black couple with the perfect driving record until (dumbass) husband has an accident...now she looks down her nose because their insurance is going to go up. Put the woman in that position (like in REAL LIFE) and there would be fricking protests.

Another interesting observation I had never thought about till I read your post..the Nationwide commercials that show the big AA dude protecting the house from would-be thieves/robbers portrays the criminals as white men.

There is more logical reason they do it as qell. White men are the laSt demographic they are trying to target. Your wife has your nuts on a vice grip and controls the finances they don't give a flying sack of shut what you think about anything you aren't buying shite. Pretty close to correct actually, from what I've heard. Women are more "stay at home and do the shopping" while men are at work.
