What is already understood does not need to be explained. If Missouri was southern this thread would not exist.

Fact is, if the major Southern army had been able to get remotely close to Missouri, then major battles would have occurred there. The very fact that the Confederate army couldn't get there is *why* most of the real action in Missouri that took place was a guerrilla war.

WTF? The South wasn't really interested in invading the North, they just wanted the North to stop attacking them. Lee's invasion of Pennsylvania was to dislodge the Army of the Potomac facing Virginia, it wasn't meant as an actual invasion with the intent to annex Pennsylvania. So it's not so much that the Confederate Army couldn't get to Missouri, they simply didn't have any strategic reason to.

Let's face it, Missouri never seceded from the Union - hence, y'all are a bunch of yanquis.

Most people *think* they understand things that they actually don't.

Think Louisiana is "southern"? Ask an Argentinian. Now that's some deep frickin' south.

Oh but being "southern" means a culture, you say. Right, and if we ask the Rant what it means to be "southern" you get 100 different answers based on 100 slightly to sometimes wildly different understandings of what exactly "southern culture" is or isn't.

Loosely translated, your post says its too complex a topic for tRant to keep up with. And I agree with that. It's an internet sports message board afterall. And ultimately everyone in this thread, me included, is just chomping on Sensei's bait.

Anyone that needs to start a thread to defend and reassure their "Southerness" is not Southern.

Well I care too. And stop calling the good people of Missouri hillbillies. They're more Southern than than these hippies in Georgia.
That said, Roll Tide.

Kills you are becoming an idiot now...no one said the fighting wasn't brutal in Missouri, and I agree with less gentleman type manners that existed on my side of the Mississippi river. All I'm saying is the scale was much smaller...the casualties were much smaller. Facts.
Hey you got the James Gang and the movie hero "Jody Wales" that repped the Confederacy .

And I'm not talking about Joe Walsh either because I think he was from Kansas.

Ahhhh...so real battles involves at least 100,000 plus people.

If that's the case, I guess our soldiers haven't fought a real war since WWII.

Gotcha.

Translation: We (Missouri) want to be southern let us explain to you why we are southern.

Further proves you are trying too hard.

Based on this thread and the previous million threads on this same matter the the vast majority does not accept Missouri's southern application.

Yes a rapper from St. Louis said "It's a Midwest thang y'all"
His album was also Country Grammar

You can draw a line an hour or two south of St. Louis and it's culturally southern.
