Wrong, it is pronounced (la-fett) like bobba fett

You're wrong. Used to fish near there and stop for lunch all the time, even been pulled over a couple times and locals and cops always said Luh-FAY-it. That's also what the pronunciation guide on their Wikipedia page says: LINK
Everything on the Internet says that too.

I'll call their contact number on their city website in the morning to confirm.

Goobertown, Blue Ball, and Greasy Corner are all good too.

I took the exit for Possum Grape once just to see what was there. The exit almost immediately turns into a dirt road

Rednecks talk fast, it just sounds like that to you. What you're saying doesn't even make sense.

Also, prayers sent for living there.

I don't know if he's right or wrong, but what he's saying most certainly makes sense. I was born and raised in Fayette, Alabama. Everybody there, and everybody who has ever lived there, pronounces it -Fet-. An occasional Birmingham weatherman will come along and pronounce it Fay-et, but James Spann and most others say Fet as it should be.

ETA: Let me amend that. You are right. It absolutely doesn't make sense, relative to how it should be pronounced, because its French. But it IS pronounced that way, and LaFyatte in Chambers county might be the same.

Let's discuss the decade old trend of people putting boards with GIANT WORDS painted on them in their living room and considering it "decorated".

Oxford,MS is in Lafayette county.

Pronounced Luh-FAY-it

Even though it and every other town with that name and spelling is named after this man

Just because locals frick up a French named doesn't mean a single one of you hillbillies are correct.

OT

Ok, so no matter how many times I edit my post above, I cannot get the "d" added on to the word "named."
