I could not fathom living in a place that would be so intent on stripping away a Constitutional Right.

quote:

The mood is somber at High Bridge Arms as the shop is closing following introduction of a law to video all gun and ammo sales and transmit data to the police department.

In July, Supervisor Mark Farrell asked city attorney’s office to draft legislation increasing restrictions on gun stores operating in the city to mandate the recording of sales, storing the videos for at least five years, and transmitting data on buyer and firearms to police at least once a week.

With the proposal’s planned introduction, owners of High Bridge Arms — the sole gun shop in the city of 830,000 — had feared the new regulations would mean the end of the shop over requirements to hand over personal information to include names, addresses and birth dates to city officials in conjunction with gun and ammo sales.

quote:

To news that his legislation may force the shuttering of High Bridge, Farrell was candid.

“Prioritizing the public safety of our City’s residents always comes first, and trumps all else,” posted to his Facebook page in reference to the store’s possible closure. “My gun control reforms are intended to close known loopholes that exist in state and federal law. And, the facts don’t lie — jurisdictions with the strictest gun control laws on the books have less gun crime compared to those who don’t.”

Yeah..this is what "reasonable" gun control leads to.

The only folks that are gonna have guns there before long are the criminals, when are the idiots gonna learn that you can buy a gun on the street in minutes and now a law abiding citizen can't buy a legal firearm there.

They are not illegal to own so they can go somewhere else and buy them. I have to drive to the next county to buy alcohol. Sometimes local governments regulate things. Are you against local government?

I'm against ANY Gov't that infringes on a Constitutional Right.

SF has one of the higher crime rates in the U.S. as it is. I doubt seriously, a single gun shop was responsible for this. Based on the mayor though, this should make it an absolute Utopia from here on out, with no places selling guns anymore.

SF crime stats:

3

(100 is safest)
Safer than 3% of the cities in the US.

Chances of becoming a victim in SF.. 1 in 116. Murder, Rape and Assaults happen on a more frequent basis than the national average.

They didn't but they made the buying process so invasive that they might as well have.

San Francisco is 83% liberal. You guys are rustled that a city 2,000 miles away is doing what its constituents want.

Why are San Frannies such pussies? I get asked for that information at Best Buy...I sure as hell don't mind giving it to someone where I am exercising my second amendment rights.

Pretty much this.

Don't worry folks. It isn't happening in the deep south. You want the government to work for you? Well, San Fran is doing what it's citizens want.
