I know there are a lot of mammals that engage in homosexual activity.

I've always believed there are multiple genetic conditions that can lead one to have a predisposition towards homosexual attraction. I don't know what those are but I'm not a biologist.

But can attraction be learned?

Behavior definitely can be. There is no doubt in my mind that a young boy raised by gay men who flaunt their sexuality is going to be more prone to homosexual behavior than if raised by heterosexual parents.

This would make sense if flamboyant gay kids didn't come out hillbilly gump households.

I did a little research with some of my lesbian friends and it was actually mixed.

There were some who experimented (allow me to preface: I believe gay to mean strictly attracted to the same gender sexually and do not consider bisexual to be a term necessary to identify someone with) at a later age but the majority were gay before they even hit puberty.

I had one girl telling me that she had remember having a crush before she knew what it was on another woman -- and so it leads me to believe that there is a certain amount of the population who are legitimately born gay.

Although, I think it's a lot more complicated than "yes" or "no".

If you look at prisons, they have much higher rates of homosexuality than regular society -- which lends credence to some of it being a choice or at least due to circumstances.

My vote would be "yes" for the majority.

Regarding the scientific evidence: I think there is an active group within the community who does not wish to be objective with homosexuality. It's hard to come up with evidence when there's a movement who wishes to destroy science to protect a group of people.

You could substitute literally dozens of behaviors and say the same thing.

Could you list some? You've made an interesting point.

We don't have to rely solely on genetics as the only scientific evidence that homosexuality is natural, meaning a product of nature in this context.

While the current research has shifted to epigenetics, the social sciences and demographics provide evidence as well.

For each of us, an individual sexual orientation is constructed during our developmental years. This sexual orientation is based upon proclivities that have been set in motion during our gestation period. While social pressures can cause an individual to sublimate their orientation, this is harmful in the long run not only to the person but also to his or her mate and offspring.

All too often, a person will marry someone of the opposite sex and have children, all the while struggling with his or her desires for a same-sex relationship. Ultimately, nature will prevail and the family is torn asunder.

Also, demographic studies show that homosexuals are born into every culture. There are no exceptions. Some very oppressive cultures prevent many people from expressing their natural preferences, but when allowed to by society, gay people emerge and join in contributing to its overall health.

That's an interpretation. Not much other than that.

But at rates unexplainable by genetics. IOW, the rates are very different across cultures and even locales within the same cultures for sexual orientation.

The rates of acceptance of homosexuals are very different across cultures and even locales within the same cultures. I would have guessed that you could make that connection.

No, that's just something the liberal jew media wants you to believe so that degenerates go around doing stuff that makes baby Jesus cry.

I am a life long Christian who is a youth pastor in a very conservative denomination. Just to clarify my position.

NO there is no scientific evidence, but yes they are. Not in the manner you think though. I believe it is meta-physical. We are all born into sin, and we are each born with temptations to different sins. Attraction itself is not a sin, but it is a temptation. Temptation, if we make the CHOICE to do so, can become sin. It is like anything else in life. You have a choice. However the temptation, or attraction, to the opposite sex is something that might go away through time, or not.

This sin is the same as my sin. I do not judge. Well, try not to. Some make it hard when they expect us to be silent while they scream and yell about their lifestyle.

This is a stupid workaround for trying to make the assertion that someone can be born gay, just the way God made them, and still be "living in sin".

Being gay isn't a sin. I know this makes it easier for you because at all costs, you must defend the "word of God", but it's the reality of the matter.

You'll always be a Christian, and more power to you, but eating bacon, fricking a chick on her period, letting some dude plow you in the butt... these are all sins in Deuteronomy. If you want to live your life by an archaic set of rules written by tribal elders making up stories so they could control their villages, so be it... but stop wasting energy in the battle. You'll never sell your idea of sin on homosexuality to gay dudes/lesbos. You can make a liar stop telling lies. You can't make someone attracted to a cock attracted to a pussy or vice versa. How many success stories are there of people finding God and turning their lives around? Millions. How many pray away the gay success stories? None. Quit it. The Bible is wrong on this.

Im go with a 50/50 here. Some people are probably likely to be born gay. Others probably make the choice.

So sexual attraction responds to cultural pressure? Interesting.

Loving the sinner hating the sin is the more PC way for Christians to say they still hate gay people.

Yes it is, having sexual thoughts about another woman other than your wife is committing adultery.
