Ya I figured that out after I asked the question.

Are you allowed to discuss why you were force to make the call?

I can't say a whole lot but basically there were some legitimate questions about medical neglect. The student has been really sickly all year, the family isn't taking him to the doctor, and there's some other potential abuse/neglect questions as well.

It's just a shitty way to wrap your work day up.

Same one as couple days ago?

If you see the quote I posted earlier I have a feeling that will make you want to make sure it's followed through.

I'm sure it is. I am also glad that there was someone there who cared enough to make the call for the child.

Btw I noticed in another thread you were reading ASoIaF. How far are you into the series?

I always follow through on mine. At the very least check the log to make sure they've come by to see them.

Cheeseburger, I've finished the books and read the accompanying Dunk and Egg novellas. I'm in the middle of my re-read with Dr. Jones (it's his first time through).

Well if you enjoy the genre, and would like I venture out to some other series let me know and I can recommend.

Although i do understand getting caugh up in one, especially the first one you do get caught up in. I read the same series over and over for a out 5 years before I branched out.

ETA: the re reads are the best because you get to focus on the characters and don't have to worry about the story. You start to recognize all the little quirks and idiosyncrasies that matheir come alive. The same reason funny movies are always better the more you see them.

My last one was followed through on the one I knew was neglect the kid was scared and wouldn't say much to dhs

Dhs screwed that one up as he was bruised and they said no evidence of neglect

I was ticked as the therapist told the family we reported them. I find it crazy that they do that, but oh well

When I got investigated by them in some report they never said anything.

I'm surprised I haven't been reported more, families like to report us to deflect attention.

Do you read aloud to him over the phone?

My ex used to read the Harry Potter books when I read them (at her advisement). I made her try and use different voices for each character.

We usually get on Skype and read together (not aloud). Then discuss the chapter we're reading when we're done. It's fun watching someone read them for the first time.

Yes, we totally nerd out.

I'm thinking about picking up Ender's Game. I'll probably get out of the genre a little bit before I get another fantasy series. I have a ton of sports books I downloaded on my Nook I need to clear out before I do anything. I'm in the middle of Boys of Summer.

Oh and here's your sig as you requested (not from the eyes but I saw the pic when I Googled and couldn't resist).

ETA: Just realized it would probably help if I gave you the link so you don't have to right click and all that business.

That's awesome. Makes books more fun.

She kept saying I was wrong when I'd guess something right to throw me off. Then I'd throw it her in face when I found out it was right. I kept saying how Snape was my favorite character and was really a good guy. She kept saying I was wrong.

Definitely. I think to avoid getting spoilery with him, but try to help clarify on things he asks about. Especially who's who and what not.

Oh no, that is perfect and you get complete artists discretion.

As far as the books go, Stephen King's Dark Tower series kind of transcends genre, and has interesting tie ins to other books he has written throughout his career if you are a fan of his. Other pure fantasy series recommendations I'll save for another time.

ETA: and of course thank you

I wanna read those books before I start GoT. But it's just trying to find time to read the books first.

Which ones? Ender's Game?

I end up reading a lot in the summer. Just give me my porch swing, a glass of iced tea, and a book. Then I'm good.

A Song of Ice and Fire.

I'd prefer to read the book then watch the series than vice versa.

Oh wow, I never realized how awesome having a sig was until this moment.

I'm kind of upset about that whole aspect of the books vs the series. Apparently HBO's people know how it is supposed to end. If that is the case and they finish the series before the books I think it is a huge slap in the face to Martin's readers.
