Does she need a roommate? As long as the balls don't touch.

That's where I live. Its a great place to live. Central to everything and is a great neighborhood. Perfect place for young people. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

IMO, its a great time to move to Bham. Its not the same city it was just a few years ago. Lots going on now.

Now if we could only get Uber

How old are you? I lived in Highland Park from 22-23 and it couldn't have been more perfect.

Do you have a family? I'd go Bluff Park area of Hoover or the nice areas of Homewood.

Btw congratulations on future living in the top up and coming city in the Southeast You'll love it.

This. People who don't admit that don't actually see what is going on in Bham. I couldn't be happier to be moving back.

I'm working off Lakeshore. I was hoping to find something between $800 and $900. I can afford more, but feel like I'm throwing money away if I'm renting. I'm not ready to buy a home yet. I'm okay with small spaces. I'm also kind of frugal.

Highland Park is a short drive to Lakeshore.
I leased a great 1 bedroom apartment there for $500 a month from 2014-2015. Perfect location of you're single. Short walk to the Lakeview bar district. Short drive to Avondale.

You should be able to get a nice place to live in that area for your price range.

That's like asking demons what do they like best about hell.

Yeah, Birmingham is a great city for someone in their 20-30's right now. More has happened in the city over the last 2 years than in the 10 years that preceded it. It pisses me off that none of this was happening when I was single a few years ago. My choices were limited to basically Innisfree, Open Door, and Rare Martini...just awful.

I probably pass your gf's house on the way to work every morning. There are a few houses that around us that are full of girls.

Try to find a place where you don't have to contend with Highway 280 traffic, they are looking for a way to fix it, but it is bad, and going to get worse before it gets better.
They have improved US-280 a ton. Much better than it was pre-2011.

True story: They have improved 280 so much, that people have changed their old commute route so that they can take 280 to and from work.

Aren't you a catfish farmer in Mississippi?

I mean some people are better suited for the slow country life, and that's awesome if you are. But most of those people are inbred and as slow in the head as the town they live in...

I love Highland Park. It's definitely a great area to live in downtown. Close to all the entertainment areas, breweries, and where I work. Mt brook has a hefty price tag but the area is really nice - same goes for parts of homewood but it can also be polar opposite in some parts. Forget vestavia - it's a random highway 31 town with not a whole lot going on unless you're into monotonous suburban life.

Homewood +1. Close to everything, not as pricey as Mtn Brook .

If what we have now is "better" then I'd hate to see what it was like. 280 is still a disaster. I've lived in metropolitan areas that had populations double the population of Alabama that didn't have terrible traffic flow like 280 has every day, including weekends.

Rare Martini

Possibly one of the most horrific establishments I have ever entered. Jesus the people were terrible. So many foriegners and other undesirables. It actually made me realize Sky Bar here in Auburn isn't that bad. I will never again consider setting foot in that hell hole.

Cahaba Heights is in Vestavia and is anything but what you just described.

Just about the only way to improve it now would be for people to move away. It is so far over capacity you wouldn't believe it. Since they made the access management changes, at least an extra 20k people a day have started using the road and it was over capacity before then. You can at least make it from one end to the other in a reasonable time now.

I would recommend not taking 280 between the hours 7 to 930 and 330 to 7
