I actually like Charlotte a lot. I know it's not one of those places people dream of living but it is good for people my age I think and there's always plenty to do. Charleston isn't far away and would be fun - Wilmington, NC too.

I'm pretty happy here. I can't think of anywhere I'd rather live. Maybe 80 miles north in Haines, AK.

East and West of the cascades are totally different, politically. Hell, even Southern Oregon around Grants Pass are some fairly conservative folks.

Juneau is liberal as hell, but it doesn't bother me. I can find people I like regardless of political persuasion. Folks tend to congregate with others like them anyway.
