I thought the general belief these days is that paraphilias are learned or developed over time from experience/events while orientations are natural and present from birth.
I'd say that pedophiles are neither born that way or choose it.

I am not saying that I am attracted, just asking the question if you all thought it was a choice or a inherent trait in those who happen to have improper thoughts about females who are not of age.

I'm sure on some level pedophiles have a natural predisposition towards being attracted to children. It isn't usually a case of just picking off the easiest sexual prey, these are people that are typically found with child porn on their computers, fantasizing about children, etc. That indicates to me that it isn't just about getting sex with whoever, they are actually attracted to children.

The trouble is defining what is and is not a paraphilia.
And no sexual orientation is present from birth. Homosexuals are almost certainly the way they are from a combination of genetic and environmental factors. If it was present from birth, identical twin concordance rates would be 100%.

Yea I'm no expert on these things but either way I think it's fair to say that people don't choose to be pedophiles. Who would choose that?

The issue many have is that a certain % of population are getting more "ACCEPT ME" thrown in your face.

Well yes, there is certainly a push for acceptance. Hell it's already mostly here. I believe you are uncomfortable with it, and you're not alone. It's ok to say that, as long as it isn't from a place of hate.
