Every single one of you would be blessed to have a Cook Out in your town. Best fast food chain, bar none. The one in Hickory has fountain fricking Sundrop.

A 1/2 lb burger, "Western" style is like 2.50. shite is delicious and cheap.

I miss Famous Dave's too. I would run over there on a sat afternoon and get that all american platter. Didn't have to cook squat for games.

It seems the only ones they have now are in Tennessee.

Yeah, there's a Famous Dave's in Chattanooga right by the Hamilton Place mall. I've never eaten there, though. For the most part, good BBQ is hard to get around where I am. There are plenty of people who do it, but outside of a pretty good local joint in Cleveland that I like, the quality is subpar.

I miss Carolina-style BBQ like mad.

The only chain that I wish was around where I am is a Chipotle. Only a handful of burrito joints in metro Chatt, especially since Qdoba pulled out of the market. But we did just get a Pita Pit, so, hey, net bonus.

So, what are your preferences?

Local places. Not saying I never eat chains, or I'm above eating at them, I just try to avoid them, especially in town. There are plenty of local places that put out better food. On the road in an unfamiliar town, I'll hit up a chain.

"Haven't gotten to try Canes yet. Hope to soon"

It's a ripoff of Guthries from the sauce, to the chicken strips, to the fries and Texas Toast so if you've had Guthries you've had Canes.

Fried chicken place based in the Carolinas. There's a few sprinkled in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. It's like a better Popeyes.

I'm in North Carolina. I don't like Bojangles at all. Super greasy and fatty chicken to me. Now I love some Popeyes.

Popeyes>>>>>>Bojangles, just my opinion. Bojangles is cheaper though.

I meant specific ones. We're in the same town.

Oh.

Saw's
Cantina
Saigon Noodle House
Eli's Jerusalem Grill
Miss Myra's
Don Pepe
On Tap
Fat Sam's
Dos Hermanos Taco Truck
Melt
Olive Branch
Rojo
Post Office Pies

A few of my favorite casual places to eat off the top of my head. I guess technically a couple of those may be chains, though not franchised.

How does Chipotle get 7 downvotes? I know they have one in Shreveport. Have they not made their way to southern Louisiana?

In N Out. One was supposed to open in Houston but got postponed indefinitely for some reason. Fort Worth and Austin get that shite but we don't

And I would settle for Shake Shack

In-N-Out is all over Dallas as well. Dallas > Houston proves itself to be true every day.

They have 1,700 locations now. I thought they were just about everywhere.

ALL the Italian joints: Olive Garden, Romano's Macaroni Grill, Carrabba's. I can get an excellent steak here at several places. For Italian I depend on wife/cook or going to Jackson or Monroe.

It's trendy to hate on chipotle on this site because they think it's hipster. Hating on hipsters is "hip".

If it isn't FAF or country then it isn't cool on SECr/TD.com

Interesting. I've been eating Chipotle for like... 10 years. Before hipsters even existed. To me it's just a burrito place.
