That's terrific.

If I'm talking to a Jewish person, I say Happy Hannukah. If I'm talking to someone from an African nation, it's Happy Kwanzaa. If I get it wrong and they correct me, it's all good because that's what they're celebrating.

This.

I generally keep my faith to myself unless someone asks.

But it irks me when anyone goes out of their way to denigrate someone else's beliefs. It serves no purpose whatsoever. They're not going to change their belief system based on you, and you just look like an a-hole for trying harder and harder.

Because it's absurd when you want to call a Christmas tree a "holiday tree" and shite like that.

What?

I never said anything like that, I said other religions celebrate holidays around the end of December.

News flash, most people on the planet don't celebrate Christmas.

News flash--that's not news.

No duh.

If you're talking to a Christian (or someone who celebrates Christmas), call it freaking Christmas. Like I said, it's not that difficult. I have friends of all faiths. Most of them appreciate when I acknowledge their holidays to their face, but don't have a problem with "Merry Christmas."

Generally, most believers I know are good, kind folks (my family and many friends). It's annoying when religious belief gets in the way of science classes in school or ridiculous blue laws, for example. I was at Costco not long ago on a Sunday and had to get out of line for 15 minutes and wait until 12:30pm to buy the case of beer I had in the cart (Atlanta area). It's minor, but a reminder how silly religion can be.

The study mentioned on the OP is interesting, but has little to do with what I believe. There are SO many problems with the bible it really doesn't matter to me what new theories develop.

I'm still reading through but it doesn't look like a bunch of people shitting on your religion yet. I honestly don't care and don't pretend to have answers. I just found it interesting when I saw this on reddit.

it's more difficult than you think. I tend to just say merry christmas because I really could give a shite less what you celebrate and I don't feel it's my job to remember every person I interact withs religion and winter holiday.

As an agnostic I celebrate christmas with absolutely zero religiousness attached. It's a national holiday afterall.

This would be a disaster for archaeologists. The existence of a person named Jesus has been supported and supposedly "proved" many times over by archaeologists.

from what i've read that evidence comes from the Josephus writtings that the author uses to disprove jesus's actual existence.
