Same thing happened to me when I was 17. I lost 40 pounds because I couldn't eat, and I constantly felt a pain that I can only describe as a "heavy" acid was eating away at my stomach. They eventually figured out I had Crohn's Disease and removed six inches of my intestine.
It could be a million and one things, and most of them are likely not life-threatening - just incredibly painful. Hope she feels better soon.

Hey, sorantable.
I don't have any good answers for you. But I feel some sympathy for your plight.
Hope it works out.
I think what's worked best for me in the past is just finding moments where it seems God came through for me - and there's been a few of those - and building a mental monument there. Then I try to maintain them by remembering them. As those increased in number, it was easier to hang my hat on God's Providence because I have a laundry list of times he has helped me.
But there's no easy answers here and it's intensely personal. Best of luck.

Prayer's asking for this or to fix that are prayers to yourself. When I've asked for guidance I've always got it, sometimes in some amazing ways

Only time in the word will strengthen your faith. Which leads to belief in prayer. That kid needs you bro.
Lack of time in the word equals lack of faith in God and prayer. Everyday! Everyday! Everyday!
Read psalm 1, memorize it, and then go to the next. Strength and faith only comes from the word.

Used to, but not so much anymore.
Sometimes I will tell god to frick himself if I get really really pissed, but almost always regret it and appologize immediately afterwards.

It's because you're a ginger, you have no soul. God wants nothing to do with you

Yes I pray and on occasion have felt the presence of God.

Yes. First and foremost, I pray there is a God.

Nope. I've determined that if the prayers of the muslims, hindus, and every other religion on earth don't count, then neither does the christian prayer. Growing up in church I'd always felt like it was phony and strange.
I hear ya on that..I don't have kids yet but have often thought of what to say to my future child when they ask if I pray/if we can pray, etc. It's just an awkward scenario.

I don't know. We say a prayer with my 2 yr old before bed every night but sometimes I feel like it's just bull shite and it makes me sad that I feel that way.

I often wonder if the people who say "prayers" for everything bad on Facebook drop to their knees at that moment and pray. I'm a good Christian man, but some of these folks must spend more time on their knees than a two dollar hooker.

Phil 4:6
Not trying to call you out by any means, but if you are a good Christian, you know we are supposed to pray without ceasing. You know you don't have to be on your knees to pray, I pray walking around at work, in the truck, etc. And unlike the Muslims, we don't have to be on our knees facing a certain direction, our God is everywhere.

That's all fine, but the Bible also says "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward." Matthew 6:5

no, I don't believe in God, but I would if I won the powerball alone

Lol in regards to standing, that's talking about praying just so people can see you praying. It's pretty easy to see the point isn't to say it's wrong to pray while standing. It's wrong to be praying just so others can see you doing it)(glorifying yourself) . So a completely different discussion all together.

It was in reference to my post about people who announce that they're praying for every little thing on Facebook. It is certainly a fitting verse for what I was referencing. Are they not announcing that they're praying so that people can see them? If not, then pray and let God sort it out.

My pastor and his wife can't have kids, so they ended up adopting three boys, which were brothers. The youngest was diagnosed last year with MD. Well he has been getting noticeably weaker, such as walking kind of funny, can't go up any stairs, etc. Well after every sermon, the boy (5 year old) walks up to the front during invitation, and my pastor and him pray for healing. They have been praying this since he was diagnosed. Well, they went to the doctor last week, and somehow the boy is getting stronger. Doctor said he has never seen this before, but the boy is stronger by a great deal than last visit.
Tbh, I have personally seen many healings, I know atheist will say I'm delusional, but I was quite a skeptic, not anymore.
Jesus y'all.
I don't mean to be a big ugly raincloud, but ive been in a certain situation with a different outcome. Had a friends son who had leukemia..he was 5 years old and we went up to the hospital every other night to visit with him and most of the time he was too weak and sickly to even acknowledge our presence. My friend (the boy's father) and his family said that they were going to keep praying and that they had faith that God could heal him. Even their pastor came as well as other folks to lay hands on him, etc.
He just kept getting worse and ended up passing away, in a lot of pain too. It tore my friend and his ex-wife apart..and i didn't hear anything from him for years as I assumed he was in depression.
For every "miracle story" there are 20 stories in which a child does not beat a terminal illness, even when "asking Jesus" to save them. I've seen many instances of this. It's the real world experiences like this that make me/have made me think prayer is futile. Not trying to be a debbie downer, just giving my opinion on the matter.
