I know of several employers that won't even interview white males because of diversity expectations. It happens.

True, but I've seen many employers who will interview middle aged women and minorities, but throw middle aged white males paperwork in the trash.
Some of it might be salary expectations, but to say it doesn't happen isn't realistic.
I was at a job fair seeking candidates for a position and the folks in the booth next to me said they were told "they can hire whomever is most qualified as long as the person is a minority or female".

Didn't say it doesn't happen.
The other side of that coin is there are private businesses that will discriminate against minorities and women or simply underpay them in relation to their fairer-skinned peers. Not saying it's prevalent, but it does happen.
Saw it firsthand when my dad was looking for a viable job after retiring from the air force. Middle age job searching is hell, regardless of skin color.
