Keep in mind the reason you are getting Texas and West Coast. Texas = generally more stable economy depending where you move (Dallas is probably most stable) and West Coast = much higher cost of living. That being said if you search hard enough in that industry you can move where you want. Santa Fe and Boulder have a want for your field for example.

Why be so fast at the draw to want to move threads? Different forums have different people and he may not care of the opinion or education of the OT. And its SEC related.

Well if I wanted to discuss my education and net worth I would go to the OT. If I want to discuss SEC sports I naturally come here to the rant. No sweat off my back either way but this thread should be moved.

Surprised nobody has made it into a pissing contest yet.

I did for a short time on medical scholly but decided it wasn't for me. Turns out it didn't matter anyway cause an owner of a music shop took me in and I'm doing great. Of course I still support the university and pump in a donation or two here and there from extra commission I make.

Dropped out of AU after 2 quarters back in 1994. Wife graduated from AU with a PhD and 2 different Master degrees. We make the exact same salaries.

We became big LSU fans (2nd favorite team) while living in Baton Rouge for 5 years.

I understand that you "went" to Alabama...and I respect your time in obtaining your degree.

However, times have changed.

I can now post anything that I want on "the internet" and ask any question that I want to.

I don't mean to be rude, but I typically don't get along with people from Alabama.

Alabama graduates are not very well-known right now. You are over-saturating your University with students that have no business there in the first place.

Maybe, try to address those problems first.

Alabama has an alumni fund somewhere...other than Football.

Try checking that out.

Please support your University...instead of your Football Team.

yeah you could just bump one of the hundred threads on it filled with people that have never stepped foot in here. You seem prudish for someone that doesn't care either way.
Anyway we disagree.

I did not attend an SEC school. I'm single and manage a small family wine distributor. It's mostly chill, make 50K and only work 4 days a week.

Enjoy it while you can. College goes by very fast and before you know it, you're moving to the other side of the country to start your career and meeting new people

Nice degree man!

$75,000-$85,000?

I am pushing towards $90,000.

I think it is worth it.

I attended one, but didn't graduate from one. As a freshman, I went to LSU. I did well the first semester, but was too preoccupied with titties and beer to even make it to class the second semester. I had to finish at a university with a few less options for fun/trouble to graduate, but will forever be loyal to LSU.

Not a baller, but got two degrees and doing a'ight.

But, I will have to move to either Texas or the West Coast to match that money.

Go post on the Texags job board. An Ag may hire you if you have the right experience

Graduate of the University of Arkansas, though I have fond memories of Southern Illinois University where I majored in drinking and playing cards for a year and a half.

Usually I would say go where you need to go while your degree is hot but the West Coast, and Boulder for that matter, are hideously expensive places to live. Yes, the salaries are bigger but they disappear rapidly.

As an example a friend of mine who was a sheet metal worker (a skilled trade where he was making 100+ grand a year) moved out to California two decades ago with his wife. Despite pulling in 100k they never came close to being able to afford a house.

Now he is retired and on disability because of a back injury that makes it difficult for him to even walk, which precludes a second career as a teacher because sitting in a chair all day long is torture for him.

He rents a lopsided trailer 15 miles outside of town for 1400 a month and its a great deal for the area. Its smaller then the two bedroom place I was renting in Fayetteville (a block from the grocery store and liquor store, on a free bus route, and next to a nature trail) for 600 a month.

Or my other friend whose husband got laid off out there and now she is having to ask friends for "loans" to help pay the utilities and buy clothes for her little girl.

You will make a lot more money out on the coast but it is a lot harder to hold onto to it. 75 grand almost anywhere in the South will go a lot further then 90 grand out in San Jose. If you have to move for the work, move to Texas or Santa Fe and not out West unless they offer you a lot of cash.

M.S. from LSU in CHEME

Never made a single dollar off any of those degrees.

I appreciate your recommendation so much!...but I am really not trying to move to Texas right now.

Great State! Very good economy, but too far away from Georgia.

I really like your people though. You guys are really "down-to-earth" and really "Deep-South". I like that!

If you are in the Atlanta market, then please hit me up as well. I am just not trying to make that move right now.

Best of luck to your Aggies!
