Did you recently graduate from Auburn? If so, I probably ran into you a time or two.

Just graduated from AU, bachelor of aerospace engineering. Started a new job at 65 grand.

Have you looked into Huntsville at all? The government is stepping up cyber security, and plenty of companies are paying good money for software folks that are intereded in cyber security.

Grew up in Florida. Choose to go to a smaller school for a full ride on a soccer scholarship. Roommate were Ole Miss an fan and started going to the games with him having never followed college football. retiring next year at 55. Going to be nice
making all the home games even if Ole Miss gets hammered.

Sure, it really has nothing to do with how easy it is

I don't think that is ever someone's argument

Not even sure who you are talking about or if you are just randomly using an example with the Lakers one.

I graduated from Arkansas. Walton College of Business. I make good $ now, with plenty of free time to shite-post.

Tell me what your argument is other than "they're different" then. How is It different for people to root for unaffiliated pro teams that are often states away than for rooting for college sport teams that one didn't graduate from? Is one acceptable and one isn't?. Is it okay to root for Arkansas because your favorite uncle/brother or your dad was an Arkansas fan even though you didn't go to Arkansas? How is it any different if your affinity for the Lakers came through your dad as well?

No. I stated that I think it is different but never said or implied it wasn't unacceptable. Saying that something is a little bit different doesn't mean that I have some opposite stance on it. It is sports, there isn't and shouldn't be any "rules" about who or what you root for

In the first post I responded to it seemed like you were calling out some other posters who are laker fans. Maybe you were purely using that as an example. That is why I asked you what it was in reference to

I narrowed down the group of Lakers fans that I was asking about to a sample size that have never left the southeast or attended a Lakers home game. I was not calling out all Laker fans.... wtf

This would have been the perfect answer to the "do you have to graduate from your favorite sports team to be a fan" question...

My inquisitive response to you was searching for an answer as to why you believe it's different to root for pro teams with no personal affiliation to you than to root for collegiate teams of no direct personal affiliation. I guess I receive no answer?

That is why I said seemed. Never said that you did, the whole reason I wanted clarification.

First I made sure to choose my words carefully. I said they were a little bit different. There are definitely more similarities than differences. In the generic example you provided there isn't a difference.

I think the biggest difference is often in Pro Sports you see people root for individuals more than teams at times. I don't think you can say it happens as much in college sports. I guess it is possible for college as well but haven't see near the amount of people that do that. I sure most people know of some friends who root for teams because it started with following a certain player coming out of college, at least I do. It is almost more likely to happen in states that don't have pro teams so there isn't really anyone to root for to begin with

Yes. One as an undergrad.

Two, if you count grad-level distance education.

I attended/graduated from Texas A&M. We were Big12 at the time, though.

Unfortunately.

In the South, even if you didn't personally attend the school you root for, it's highly likely somebody in your immediate family or extended family did.

That's enough to claim loyalty.

I still think there's a difference between those who attended and those who didn't. It's different when you spent four years going to games during the prime of your life. I find that fans who never attended Arkansas have a different opinion of which teams they "hate" than those who did attend.
