His updates have been very interesting.

Honestly, I'm thankful that people are on the ground there and straightening things out. No one should be allowed to scare people on campus like that.

Hours after his hunger strike forced the resignation of the University of Missouri's president, graduate student Jonathan Butler appeared on campus in a knit hat and an "I Love My Blackness And Yours" t-shirt and insisted it wasn't about him.

EDIT: After some digging by fellow ranters, it's 100% confirmed Johnathan (hunger strike idiot) came from a well-off family. Daddio made like $6 mill a year for Union Pacific.

I bet he could watch more than 2 tv channels.

yet, did you see his amazing acting job when he ended his hunger strike. He was walking around like he had no strength in his legs. A rather attractive tall black girl had to hold him up.

Are there any photos of him during his hunger strike? I have not seen any. If he was in the Free Zone tent city he could have been drinking smoothies and Ensure drinks.

yea vitamin water and what nots are likely, this whole thing was a scam and Clay is certainly correct to say the "hunger" part of the strike is likely a scam too.

the only thing this kid was starving for was attention.

Some may think this could happen anywhere, but the culture at Missouri is definitely different and is manifest in at least two examples. The idiot student body president would never be elected at many schools in the conference, and there are states in the SEC where Claire McCaskill couldn't even get elected dogcatcher. So when you wonder if this could happen at "any school", you have to look at the culture, values, and climates of those schools and states.

I am not sure I understand why this rubs you guys the wrong way. Is he supposed to be more tolerant of racism on campus because his father made a lot of money? Wouldn't that just make him a sell out?

Awesome, one less idiot in the world and I don't get charged with murder.

So did anyone see a picture of this kid on strike? Were there any pictures this actual hunger strike? Do we know if he ate or not? I have a huge suspicion the generation that us grown up in social media where their ideas and opinions can be veiled in a shrowd of anonymity jump in to situations without preparation or a legitimate intention of following through. It reminds me of my crazy ex-girlfriend in college and her ability to rationalize everything because her feelings were more important than facts.

One of his demands was that the president make a public statement acknowledging his "white privilege"

No one is arguing that universities don't have their fair share of racial issues. It has everything to do with society as a whole, not higher education learning institutions.

Jonathan Butler and the student body president aren't one and the same. The students voted a gay black man as their leader. One could argue that is extremely progressive. Obviously not a sign of inherent institutional racism.

The problem is, they are combating institutional racism with more racism. One of the stipulations was to essentially elect someone of color as the next president and/or chancellor.

0% of the racial claims have any substance behind them. It's all 100% hearsay or possible propaganda. This kids family is worth over $20 million. If life was this poor for him on campus, why would he elect to stick around as a grad student. He has been a student here for like 7 years. There are too many red flags for me.

TL;DR: Racism is bad. This whole situation is bullshite.

This is all just a by-product of media sensationalism and a bunch of dumb young people wanting to be part of something 'bigger'

In other news, I heard gingers are greatly upset with the all red Starbucks cups.
