I can keep up with current events without watching the news. It's not hard to figure out what is going on in the news.

And FYI, I should've said this earlier, I guess, but I do watch BBC because it doesn't seem to have a conservative/liberal agenda. I also listen to a lot of podcasts and read a lot. Maybe you should cut off CNN and give my way a try. It's much better.

Talk about a short term memory. This whole discussion has been about television news, not keeping up with current events.

It's funny that you bring up Game of Thrones though. If you had stopped watching GoT in season 2, you wouldn't be qualified to give your opinion about the show in season 5.

Similarly, if you stopped watching the news, you're not qualified to give an accurate portrayal of what's on the news. Because you don't watch it.

Look I'm sorry that that lady in Louisiana and those girls at Vandy and that couple in Knoxville were beaten and raped and murdered. I truly am. I hope that they all get the justice they deserve. I know that that black people are complete capable of being racist, killers, rapist, liars, thieves, and all around horrible people, just like everyone else. I and everyone else hope that these thugs, rapist and murderers fry for what they did. Most sensible black people want the same as well.

And this is where you're wrong. I do view this type of crimes for a different angle, and I freely admit when I'm wrong. I was wrong about the Trayvon Martin case, it really wasn't a racist incident as previously posted, and I realize this now. I was wrong about the Texas pool incident from a few weeks ago, which is why I never really posted in that thread on here again, (despite the fact that I started it).

I'll admit when I'm wrong, and I am capable of viewing things from a different view. Most black people, including members of my own family, like to immediately categorize every injustice against them as something racial. They like to think with emotions instead of logic, which you accused me of doing, but I don't do that. I condemned all the people who rioted in Baltimore and Ferguson, even though I understood the reasoning behind them doing it. You can look at my post history to see that.
Being at Alabama (and believe it or not, reading this board) for the past few years has quickly changed my view of the world. I know that the world is not all black and white, and that things are not as clear as they seem. I don’t blame all my problems on “Whitey” or will play the race card at the first sign of problems. So yeah, I can and I am looking at this at a different angle, which is why I can still come to the conclusion that I did.

And you’re talking to a black male who is slowly becoming more and more conservative and might even vote for a Republican next year. You think my parents are going to be thrilled about that? And believe me, I am looking at this objectively, and without emotion (even though I am sad about the victims and their families, as this did hit close to home). And as far as going back to your original post about the victims in Louisiana, Vandy and Knoxville, I hope that they all do receive justice. Should they have received more air time by CNN and other news outlets? Yes. Was it an injustice that it went unnoticed? Yes. But if you or any of my friends on FB feel like these victims were unjustly treated by the criminal justice system then by all means go out and protest these crimes. Make your voice heard.

And that’s all I have to say about that. Don't know if this took an hour or not.

Also, you make a good point about protesting. I haven't done this, or even considered it to be honest. And I'd be worried that extremist groups like the KKK would show up, and I don't identify with those guys.
