Without any evidence to back this up, I'd bet he has a racist family.

You're finally getting it.

Do you have such strong opinions about other TV shows that you don't watch anymore?

Sometimes, it feels like people think black people are behind the way main stream media reports. It's like they think all these places have all black staffs who only focus on white on black crime.

I certainly don't think this. I just think racism draws in viewers. And it's unacceptable to label a black person as racist. Or it just doesn't feel right.

only you would think that keeping up with current events = keeping up with Game of Thrones.

I can keep up with current events without watching the news. It's not hard to figure out what is going on in the news.

And FYI, I should've said this earlier, I guess, but I do watch BBC because it doesn't seem to have a conservative/liberal agenda. I also listen to a lot of podcasts and read a lot. Maybe you should cut off CNN and give my way a try. It's much better.

and one more time…guess what the main contributing factor was for me to stop watching the news. And then treat this conversation like a puzzle.

Probably more hateful than we can fathom, but you don't just do this without being programmed... This shite was straight out of the Jihadist handbook and well executed.

frick it if we need to send a few drone flights over South Carolina and take out these targets so be it...

Talk about a short term memory. This whole discussion has been about television news, not keeping up with current events.

I've asked you twice now to take a stab at the main factor for me deciding to stop watching the news. Seriously, give it a whirl. If you're wrong though, I'm going to call you an idiot.

What I want to know is how someone who is just 21 years young developed such hatred by themselves with such limited life experience?
No clue. For some people it just takes one negative experience for that seed to be planted. Or maybe it was his upbringing/family. All speculation at this point, but I'm sure we'll find out more in the coming days.

It's funny that you bring up Game of Thrones though. If you had stopped watching GoT in season 2, you wouldn't be qualified to give your opinion about the show in season 5.

Similarly, if you stopped watching the news, you're not qualified to give an accurate portrayal of what's on the news. Because you don't watch it.

Is that more clear?

There aren't seasons of the news and it's pretty easy to find out what is being reported. I don't actively watch the news anymore. But the news is still on around me, all over. The barber shop, in my own home (my SO watches the Today show every morning).

I think, or know, that you took my post out of context. No, I do not go out of my way to watch the news. I hate the dirty laundry of it and the race baiting. But do I know what's being reported? Yes. It's everywhere.

Hell the news is on in the background of my home as we speak. I can hear it, but I'm not going out of my way at 6:00 and 10: every night to cut it on.

I don't feel any more outraged over any black on white crime than I do white on white crime.

And I feel the same way when it comes to black crime.

quote:

I think any crime of passion or crime driven by racist motive deserves every ounce of media attention. But it doesn't work that way. It just doesn't. I can't find the link (which kinda proves my point) but there was an instance in Louisiana a few months back where an old white lady was beaten to the brink of death by multiple black kids over her purse in her own garage.

Another example is the Vandy rape case. Only recently has it come to light that the black player said "this is for 150 years of slavery" or some shite while he pissed all over her after raping her. And they even had this shite on video.

The Knoxville case was a white couple that was tortured, raped (in front of her boyfriend, who was hog-tied), sodomized with a broom handle, bleach poured down her throat, and both shot and set on fricking fire. 3 black people did this. The black chick even had a diary where she wrote about how good of a time she had in Knoxville. Was their court case blasted all over CNN? No. And that's as heinous as they come.

Look I'm sorry that that lady in Louisiana and those girls at Vandy and that couple in Knoxville were beaten and raped and murdered. I truly am. I hope that they all get the justice they deserve. I know that that black people are complete capable of being racist, killers, rapist, liars, thieves, and all around horrible people, just like everyone else. I and everyone else hope that these thugs, rapist and murderers fry for what they did. Most sensible black people want the same as well.

quote:

Let's not forget that Carolina Tide is also black, so of course you agree with Stonehog. You don't have the ability to take a view from another angle. You choose not to. It doesn't suit what you want to believe as truth.

And this is where you're wrong. I do view this type of crimes for a different angle, and I freely admit when I'm wrong. I was wrong about the Trayvon Martin case, it really wasn't a racist incident as previously posted, and I realize this now. I was wrong about the Texas pool incident from a few weeks ago, which is why I never really posted in that thread on here again, (despite the fact that I started it).

I'll admit when I'm wrong, and I am capable of viewing things from a different view. Most black people, including members of my own family, like to immediately categorize every injustice against them as something racial. They like to think with emotions instead of logic, which you accused me of doing, but I don't do that. I condemned all the people who rioted in Baltimore and Ferguson, even though I understood the reasoning behind them doing it. You can look at my post history to see that.
Being at Alabama (and believe it or not, reading this board) for the past few years has quickly changed my view of the world. I know that the world is not all black and white, and that things are not as clear as they seem. I don’t blame all my problems on “Whitey” or will play the race card at the first sign of problems. So yeah, I can and I am looking at this at a different angle, which is why I can still come to the conclusion that I did.
quote:

Seriously, take a look at this objectively and come back. Again, I'm a liberal white male who made a hard decision to go against the grain, as my family is very conservative. You should really consider putting your personal opinions aside for one hour, and hop on the internet.

And you’re talking to a black male who is slowly becoming more and more conservative and might even vote for a Republican next year. You think my parents are going to be thrilled about that? And believe me, I am looking at this objectively, and without emotion (even though I am sad about the victims and their families, as this did hit close to home). And as far as going back to your original post about the victims in Louisiana, Vandy and Knoxville, I hope that they all do receive justice. Should they have received more air time by CNN and other news outlets? Yes. Was it an injustice that it went unnoticed? Yes. But if you or any of my friends on FB feel like these victims were unjustly treated by the criminal justice system then by all means go out and protest these crimes. Make your voice heard.

And that’s all I have to say about that. Don't know if this took an hour or not.

I wish I could respond to your post in more depth, but I actually have a kickball game I have to attend. But I wholeheartedly apologize for categorizing you in any certain manner. That's exactly the shite I hate seeing in the media! So again, I'm sorry for that.

Oh god, please don't. Vote for Bernie in the primary and then see where that goes.

Also, you make a good point about protesting. I haven't done this, or even considered it to be honest. And I'd be worried that extremist groups like the KKK would show up, and I don't identify with those guys.
