Alaska. It's been the only airlines flying into JNU for decades, though Delta does now once a day. Not sure I'd be comfortable on any other airline in our weather and terrain.

Returned today from a great trip to Port Aransas... great until we tried to come home on American Eagle Monday. Delay, delay, delay, and we finally took a later earlier (or is it earlier later?) flight that missed the last flight out of DFW to home by a few minutes. So we stayed at DFW overnight. No real problem, except today wasn't a whole lot better. Three gate changes and two hours late. None of the delays were weather-related. As far as I can tell they were incompetence-related.

Unless I forget this debacle, next time we want to travel less than 1000 miles - I'm driving.

Alaska is a good company. Southwest is the only major airline in the U.S. that has never had a fatality on board an aircraft due to an accident.

I think Belle is looking to to fly from Louisville to Tampa, not sure Alaska flies to either.

Do you have to fly to tampa?

I saved almost 1000 dollars one year flying into orlando instead of Tampa a few years back. Good luck

Why the hell do you have a layover when flying from Louisville to Tampa? There had to be a direct flight.

Alaska flies to Tampa nonstop from SeaTac. They do not service Louisville. Southwest flies to Tampa from Louisville nonstop

Jet blu is the best, period. Don't know if they fly that route though.

If the flight is over 2 hours, I'll happily pay more for Jet Blu. Ive paid $250 more to fly JB over spirit for a nonstop flight from miami to vegas a few times.

Second favorite domestic carrier is American fwiw.

If I do Southwest's preferred boarding/business it's like $900+ for the round trip. It's almost impossible to find a decent non-stop from here to Tampa anymore with any of the airlines.

I could do it for the Anytime fee for around $500, but I could get a first class round trip flight on other airlines for just $100 more than that (i.e. Delta, American, etc). I was pretty shocked when I pulled it up and it came out to that.

is that non stop or change?

500 round trip non stop seems okay.

Flying the non-stops on 6/29 and 7/8 is $397.00 (Wanna Get Away). Add in Early Bird Check-In (I think that's $10.00 each way) and you go to $417.00.

If you fly back on 7/7 flying the non-stops, it's $426.99, not including Early Bird Check-In.

Those are pretty darn good rates considering they are non-stop flights.

Yeah, if I don't want preferred boarding and not get stuck in a shitty seat next to some shitshow.

ETA: Layovers don't bother me though. And like I said earlier, I'm just going to have a carry on.

The older I get the more time matters and nonstop is the way to go.

Can you pick your seat mates on other airlines that have assigned seating?

I wish they had lineups of who has already booked and their personal information, and you could pick with whom you have to sit. Creepy as hell, but it would make traveling much more enjoyable-and another perk for which the airlines could charge.

Early Bird Check-In gets you, I believe, into the A1-30 first boarders. I always pay for it so I can get an aisle seat, and when I was traveling much more, it usually meant I got one of the coveted catbird seats: the exit row seats with either nothing next to them or nothing in front of them.

I have a thing about that: I like to sit over the wing, as it's the strongest part of the aircraft. If you're in the very front or the very rear, and there's a hard landing, tail strike, or any sort of survivable incident, those parts of the plane are more apt to be damaged with the wing to remain intact. Then again, the wings contain the lion's share of the fuel.

Of course, this is all academic.
