Memphis' local food scene goes well beyond the BBQ. We have a number of nationally recognized local restaurants and chefs.

Many of which are NO transplants. Go figure.

Mississippi and South Carolina should both be much higher.

I agree with this. SC has some unique food and drinks along its coast, and Mississippi has a mudpie.

Please tell me a state that does seafood better than Louisiana.

I can't wait for this response.

Texas has amazing Tex-Mex. In fact, outside of Texas you generally are getting a shitty copy of good Tex-Mex.

I've always liked Texas BBQ the best, too. I hate when BBQ comes out slawed up or smothered in some goopy sauce.

I like my BBQ brisket, and my sauce on the side, and hotter than hell.

Nashville has incredible restaurants on every corner now as well. Foodie heaven. BUT, they aren't "Tennessee" food.

LA and New York have incredible food too.

And we have more local breweries in Fayetteville alone than several other southern states have total.

There are a couple breweries in LR too, correct?

There is like 6 or 7 wineries in Altus alone.

And Grits are fricking nasty.

Umm so does Atlanta, and I'd venture to guess in larger numbers.

Charleston alone should have South Carolina in the top 10.

There isn't one obviously. Louisiana produces the best seafood and every other state that produces excellent seafood isn't as good Louisiana's.

Unless they have had Maryland crabs, no one here will understand how much better they are. I like LA food, but it's not as amazing as what people from the south LA think it is. I also would rather have apalachicola oysters than anywhere else.

There's like 9, soon to be 10 breweries in NWA metro. And yeah, grits suck IMO.

Its how the seafood is prepared. There is nothing better out there. You might prefer fried shrimp in Florida, but I'd rather creole cooking that has flavor for days.

You would be wrong. I'll give you the nod on micro-brews.
