We need to start this home series off on the right foot. I don't know what it is about early season games in Minny that makes our boys lose focus. Remember the sweep up there last year?

I guess it is true that you want to play the bad teams after they realize they are bad.

what are y'all's thoughts on the slide at 2nd. Looked malicious to me. Will be interesting to see if KC retaliates tomorrow.

It was with bad intentions. You don't slide directly into the legs like that and not expect to cause injury. Cleats were up and going directly into the legs. Yeh it could be labeled a hard play but he could have slid much different, like sandoval did today against the Orioles. Same play and two very different slides.

Royals fans, just got my tickets for a Detroit series game today. If you are thinking of going, better get some now. They are selling fast. I just bought for the saturday game and had to settle for another section. Scored some angels tickets in august too.

Just a heads up.

It was dirty as hell. It sure looked like he was aiming at Esky's leg. My guess is that they throw behind him tonight.

I bought 20 tickets for the Royals/Cardinals game on May 23rd. Got a killer deal at 45 bucks per in the Outfield Plaza, Section 248. If I have any extras I will let you guys know. But we are having a big tailgate and anyone who might be going is welcome to stop by.

Sounds like a good time and that's a pretty nice deal. Anytime you can take In a pro game of any kind for less than 50 a pop it's a good deal. I buy a friends fund raising vouchers every year. They were 20 bucks per but they went up this year to 22 bucks. I can't use them for the cards, yanks or boston series. Everything else is good.I believe box level only. Sometimes if you get the right counter person, you can talk them into an upgrade or different sections, did that last year. :)

Agreed it was dirty. When he seen he messed up Escy's leg, he was then playing innocent. Infante wasn't happy. Moose should have cold cocked Lawrie's arse right there.

How would you like to be Billy Butler last night? Bet that was a mess of emotions. Probably didn't know who to punch if a fight broke out. Noticed he didn't venture too far out of the dugout.

I just don't expect to see a retaliation tonight. They've been hit like 13 times at the plate and still no retaliation. I don't get it. But I don't expect them to do anything. Hope I'm wrong.

So, I hear ventura hit Lawrie. Got tossed. I am surprised. But good for them. To bad they are losing though.

Man oh man what a series. Oakland came in as arguably my second favorite AL team only to leave as my most hated AL team.

In the heat of the moment I was pumped and loved the fireworks, but in retrospect I'm a bit disappointed by it. Wish both teams would just move on. I don't think that Kazmir hit Cain on purpose, but I don't blame the Royals for taking exception to it after all of the HBP's we've taken plus the fact that last night after Ventura hit Lawrie the A's were hinting at retaliation, thus why the Royals saw it as such.

The whole situation is a fricking mess and I think it'll only get worse before it gets better.

Herrera was an idiot. Regardless of everything else, he deserves the suspension that's surely coming.

It certainly wasn't necessary but I have no problem with it. And the Oakland narrative that he was throwing at his head is laughable. Apparently they don't teach human anatomy in California.

There is no place for 100mph fastball shoulder height or above thrown intentionally.

Cain wasnt hit intentionally either so Im not even sure what he was doing. I mean, I didnt like the slide at all man it pissed me off watching it but throwing fastballs around the head at 100mph was the most dangerous play of the series.

Royals lost their collective cool. 5 people ejected. Team needs to be way more composed than that. Yost needed to sit his arse in the dugout and maintain his teams composure yet he gets tossed early on in the game.

Now Herrera is going to be suspended an that hurts the team.

I'm growing to respect this team even more than after the post season appearence.

They did what they had to do today. The win was just icing on the cake. I disagree that Herrera should be suspended. He did what he had to do. Lawrie should be happy that Herrera chose to not hit him. Remember, this was all started by Lawrie.

Don't know who's going to end this but the final match up is this June, and it's not over yet by a long shot.

And he was plunked yesterday. Thats fine and how it should be handled. Over reacting to kazmir hitting cain on the toe pretending it was intentional was stupid.

Im all for a team defending themselves and turning an eye for an eye. That slide was bad and he deserved what was coming to him. In his defense he was hit yesterday by ventura and trotted down to 1st and kept his mouth shut. He took his medicine and that should have been the end of it.

Kilo, you can't say that Cain wasn't intentionally hit. When you're in a series like this with the history, don't go inside unless you're sure you're not hitting the batter. Retaliation is coming if you do. I think Kazmir's posturing after the he hit Cain tell's me he intentionally done it and Kazmir's control is among the best in the league. It is possible to lose one now and then, but Cain was the third batter I think in that inning.

As far as the 100 mph fastball, if Herrera wanted to hit Lawrie with that heat, he would have, and that would have been suspension worthy and wrong. Instead he threw it behind him. There is not much difference to me between a 100 mph fastball tight inside and one that's tight and behind. Either one would mess you up. If you don't want to worry about a pitcher hurling a 90 to 100 mph fastball at you, then your pitchers better keep it outside or over the plate away from the oppositions batters.

Message was sent, let's see if the A's are listening. They would be stupid to continue this.

I agree with everything the KC Royals did today.

Lawrie kept the warpaint on for the postgamer. Guy's a turd.

I don't agree with this. After last nights game, the A's clubhouse was furious that Ventura hit Lawrie because they didn't think Lawrie had done anything wrong. Several players, most notably Josh Reddick, suggested that there would be retaliation for Ventura hitting Lawrie. You'd be naive to think the Royals weren't aware of these comments.

Fast forward to today and in the first inning with 2 outs and nobody on (a preferred situation for beaning someone) Scott Kazmir's first pitch to Cain drills him in the lower leg/ankle area with a fastball. Cain is arguably our most important player and it sure seems like a major coincidence that after suggesting the night before they would retaliate for hitting Lawrie, Kazmir comes out and drills Cain in the first inning on the first pitch of the at-bat. You have to keep in mind how heated this series has been, and even if it was an accident, you don't get the benefit of the doubt in a series that's been as testy as that one. Not to mention the Royals have been hit 14 times this year and are getting fed up with it. Anyways,

TL;DR The evidence almost certainly suggests Kazmir hit Cain on purpose.

I just heard Lawries post game comments. Really? He said Herrera was saying it was his head next time? I doubt it. Herrera was telling him to give it some thought and he needed to take it to heart. That's what I translated from Herrera's hand gestures to Lawrie. I think Lawrie was uptight because his jock was still sucked up his a-hole from that heater he took out back. I swear it looked like it almost ripped his jersey off when it went by.

I'm not condoning Hererra's pitch (nor do I have a problem with it) but it's grade A bullshite for the A's to claim he was throwing at Lawrie's head. The pitch very clearly was no higher than his shoulder blades. Hererra is one of the best relievers in the game, and if he wanted to hit Lawrie, he would have. Plain and simple.

And if you've actually watched the video of Hererra's "gesture" at his head, I seriously doubt he was talking about hitting him in the head.
