And if you've actually watched the video of Hererra's "gesture" at his head, I seriously doubt he was talking about hitting him in the head.

Even if he was, so be it. It's not illegal to put some fear in somebody else. (Bc we live in a world were Justin Bieber is a thing, I can see MLB fining him for the hand gesture).

In hockey it would be chirping. Telling someone you're gonna make them leak isn't nice, but it happens. Lawrie even sounds like a whiny turd.

True, that's actually a topic I heard discussed on the radio today. In any other sport, the things that happened this weekend between KC and Oakland would hardly draw a second look (they didn't even fight for goodness sakes). But thanks to baseball's archaic "chivalrous code", talking trash, instilling fear, showboating, celebrating, staring someone down, etc etc is all frowned upon because its not playing the game "the right way". Just look at Puig: great young player who generates a lot of excitement who would be absolutely worshiped in the NFL or NBA, but instead he gets raked across the coals because baseball.

Hell, I saw a couple of Oakland fans online who said they have hated the Royals more than any other team ever since Dyson did this:

They weren't mad about losing the game, they were mad because Dyson did that.

Baseball people are fricking morons

Lawrie has a history of being a turd.

Lawrie ejected throws helmet.

Really, it's the way KC needs to be the rest of the season regardless of who they're playing. The gloves are off from here on out. You want to pitch us high and tight to stay out of the middle of the plate? Better not hit any batters.

Truth. I couldn't care less if people hate the Royals. I hope we become the bad guys of baseball. It's fun to watch the little ol' Royals get America up in arms.

Baseball needs a good villain anyways, because the Yankees haven't been cutting it in recent years.

That's some funny stuff.

Finally got Gibson. Another good ex-Mizzou pitcher.

Haha, stop it. The Royals are trying to be the "Bad Boys" of baseball but are failing miserably. No one fears them in that way. The Royals handled this whole situation in the worst possible way and have came out looking 10 times worst than Brett Lawrie. You can't play around with throwing a 95+ mph fastball at someone's head, that's why the threat is different than threats made in other sports. There is a difference between a hard check in hockey, a hard foul in BBall, even throwing at someone's ribs and then there is throwing a fastball at someone's head.

I wonder if another Royals batter gets plunked this year when we have a pitcher ready to throw 100 mph heat at them? Throwing those at batters are dangerous, but so is sliding directly into the SS legs as we have witnessed. So Herrera has put the league on notice. You can hit our batters and injure our shortstop, but be prepaird for a heater in your ear. I'll take that all day over being some teams bitch.

As far as perception. I don't think there are too many Royals fans who gives two shits what MLB network chumps opinions are. These fans are rabid. We were once known as classless also during our Allstar game here. Blah blah blah. I find it odd, that all these same reporters were asking why KC was not defending their hitters when we were leading the league in hit batters. Now that we've stepped up and took retribution, we're bad guys now. So be it. That's all this team needs. A reason for being. Nothing would be better than to make it back to the WS and win it. That would shut all the critics up.

The A's/nationwide narrative that Herrera threw it his head is still so absurd to me. How is this anywhere near his head?

It's the same height as the number on his back for goodness sakes

Breaking:

Ventura fined an undisclosed amount. Herrera suspended for 5 games.

Herrera will appeal and hopefully it will buy enough time for Holland to get back from the D.L.

Okay, now Royal fans are making themselves into victims. It's not just "MLB Network chumps" but many people who follow and report on baseball who don't agree with what the Royals did. It went beyond protecting their players. Royal fans not being able to see where the team crossed the line is the bigger issue. Don't let last year's pennant go to your head.

I think we've made it clear that we don't care. If they want to make us the bad guys, we'll gladly embrace it.

No, you see that this team took care of business. The way they should have. I'll go ahead and repeat what I said. There aren't too many Royals fans who could give a shite less what some jackass desk jocky reporter is saying about what line we crossed, how the timing was wrong, blah blah blah. The fact is, the message was sent whether players liked it, organizations liked it or the desk jockys at where ever liked it or not. You hit our batters or hurt one of our players, you're gonna pay whether it's right wrong or indifferent. You are going to get it and it may include a Herrera heater. If you don't want to be in that situation, don't injure our players. We have two players injured now as a result of "a hard slide" and hit batter. Don't tell me this shite aint on purpose and not to let last year go to our head. It is what it is. Started out the season with 7 straight wins with a ton of hit batters. What world are you living in?

Ok, where do you get that? We have two player right now injured as a result of constant high and tigh fastballs and a shortstop injured from a shite arse slide by a vagina wielding moron. Yet, no one else is getting suspended, kicked out of games. The game in question regarding the Herrera fastball, we had a hit batter, one pitcher and like three coaches and some bench players tossed. The A's had zero ejections (also for the series) and they hit the batter. As a result, we had.all the ejections and now will lose a damn good releiver for 5 games. We also recieved a warning from the umpire and we had the hit batter! What are we getting a warning for? We did nothing! So if you want to discuss who the victim is here, know what you're talking about first.
