Fine with what we gave up. Great trade for the Royals!!

No chance we resign him next year though. Way too many mouths too feed to afford him. Next year I fear we'll see a fair amount of turnover.

I think you are right. But win now and worry about next year when it happens.Maybe if you win it all it will convince Glass to open the vault.

Yeah that appears to be the strategy. I think Dayton Moore is going all-in this year before we potentially have to purge some salary next year. But like you said, win now and worry about next year later.

So whose spot in rotation is he taking?

Hard to say. We just lost Vargas so either his or Guthries I assume would be it

He'll take Vargy's spot since he's done for the year.

Chris Young/Jeremy Guthrie will hold down the 5th slot. Most likely its Chris Young's spot to lose and Guthrie will move to the pen.

ETA: thanks Reedus. It's an exciting time for baseball in KC

Great trade.Finnegan was just a middle reliever, and Lamb has been an up and down starter.Cueto is exactly what you needed.

I liked Finnegan. Middle releiver potential starter. Has good stuff. Just hated to see him go. Cueto was abgood pick up but at what cost? We'll see. I'll just enjoy it right now and worry about next year, next year.

That's the approach. I don't think you too awfully much but you do have to give to get and y'all have a chance to make a real run. Take advantage of it while you can.

Cueto is a difference maker. When you are an ace away from winning the World Series you make the deal. And you got even better with the Zobrist trade. He can play LF until Gordon comes back.Or play 2B when Infante slumps again.

I totally get it. It's a business, and who truly knows how the Royals front office will approach resigning players. They seem to have made all the right moves so far even though those moves seem strange to outside observers at times. Dayton seems to find diamonds in the rough at bargain prices that are good for a two or three year run. It would be a shame to see this current roster fall apart as I truly believe this roster hasn't hit their peak. Still a young roster.

Nothing is iron clad. The post season is a role of the dice and Houston is a strong team. Angels are coming around. Twins still scare me as long as Tori Hunter is in town. The Yankees have found a second life and you can never ever count out Baltimore.

Hell I still don't like James Shields is gone. I know he wasn't "big game" James during the WS, but still.

I can live with "big country" being gone.

Thought Cueto pitched pretty good for his debut. Tough going up against a team like the jays on a new team. He could have used some more run support too. Win some lose some.

With the streak they on I thought he pitched great. Let's go get a W tonight.

Hell of a job to sweep following the disaster in Detroit. Did a nice job with a short bullpen and mediocre starts. Now we get another shot at Detroit with Cueto in game 1.

Another huge win tonight...damn. The Angels probably hate our guts. Swept the ALDS last year and then took 6 of 7 from them this year. Royals 8-2 on this home stand.
