Teki can't shoot. He's also a poor ball handler and TO machine. Plays shitty defense.

Williams is a high volume, low percentage scorer. Also a TO machine. Extremely weak. Gets pushed around constantly by other bigs.

Remember, we put our worst team in program history on the court WITH these two. Not overly concerned about losing guys who don't play winning basketball.

Yall are laughing, but please show me how they are good players. You can't.

I'm guessing Mark Few either isn't a good coach or decided the extra spot on the team wasn't needed.

As far as Teki goes...I do think he tried to do too much when he saw the complete lack of talent on the team. But before the Illinois game, he did score over 15 points in 6 of the 12 games. Not bad as a true freshman.

Both are good players. After sitting out next year I expect both to have good years at their next schools.

Though I think the team can still get to .500ish next year. Then we will see if that's enough for KA to keep his job.

I'll say this for Williams. He was hurt by what he was asked to do. He can be a role player on a good team, but he's not a lead scorer/go to guy. For us last year, he played like shite.

As for Teki, the guy shot 36% and had 3 times as many TO as assists. That's just shite. Not too mention his poor defense.

As I said, we were shite with these guys. We can be shite without them.

We didn't have any good players. Or, alternately, we had the most poorly designed offense in post-Vietnam-war Mizzou basketball.

JWIII and MGC were both top 100 recruits (maybe both top 50). We can pretend that they're not talented kids to make ourselves feel better. It won't change the fact that they're both talented players who struggled (like every other player) under KA last year.

There's a turd in the punch bowl. The emperor is naked.

Personally, I think .500 should be more than enough for KA to keep his job.

Wait. Did I say that? I thought I was only down on KA and hoops.

Talented and good/winning ball players are two different things. Both were one and not the other.

If they were only shitty because of the coach, as you suggest, then it really doesn't matter if they left because they would have continued to be shitty under the same shitty coach to another shitty season.

That should be pretty clear this season. We'll get a mess of new players to play shitty KA ball.

Well, then he's getting fired anyway and it's completely moot who stayed or left.

To some extent, I agree.

And I'd rather have the wheels come off the bus faster than slower if they're coming off.

Look, I agree with you and even if it seems like I'm defending KA...I'm not. There simply is no defense for the state of our program. We're not elite, but we are a whole hell of a lot better than this. I wasn't excited about the hire when it was made and I'm certainly not optimistic he's going to fix this mess.

My point is simply this. It's KA's mess and he'll either start winning, or he won't and he'll be gone. I'm not concerned about losing shitty players off of a shitty team. I can't remember being more disgusted by a sports team I follow probably ever. They can all go and we can start completely over as far as I'm concerned. We sucked with them and we'll very likely suck again without them. He'll get this year and next. Nothing beyond that is guaranteed so if he wants to bring in a bunch of "glue guys", "grinders" or whatever he's looking to get then we'll see if it works. It either will or it won't and I don't see players like J3 or Teki being a determining factor in any of it.

Bottom line, it's likely we have a new coach in a couple of years and at least it won't be Alden doing the hiring. I'll admit that I'm not a huge hoops guy, so I do feel bad for the guys that are because we likely have a very long rebuilding process in front of us.

Makes sense. I started picking up on what you were saying as you went. And you're right. One player isn't going to be a big difference. We aren't going to recruit ourselves out of this hole. It isn't a recruiting issue.
