This game is likely lost however if it weren't for Wong's speed. Beating that ball out was huge and don't think anyone else on the team has that kind of speed.

Reminds me of a young Furcal.

His addition is very welcome.

Oh, the "Grow up" got quoted before the edit. My bad.

I couldn't really tell you to grow up when halfway up the page I shared a Ricky Bobby gif telling anyone that doesn't like Matt Holliday 'frick you'. And then finished it with a sarcastic 'you guys win, he's really good'.

Absolutely. I love having someone with great speed. Chambers does ok but he's just not an every day type of player. Mo...any idea if Wong has ever played any shortstop? I haven't heard that he has and have never heard that discussed as a possibility.

It's all good. My wife tells me to grow up all the time.

I just know that he never played there in the minors.

Sort of surprised that he was never thrown over there just to see, considering our desperate need for a short stop with some offensive ability.

He is just such a prototypical 2nd basemen, I guess they wanted to keep him there.

Wonder if he just doesn't have the arm for it. I was all for being patient with Kozma, but it is such a black hole at the bottom of the line up, it's killing us.

ETA - In other words, my patience is running out.

Kozma's offensive numbers are just terrible. It has to be addressed in the off season.

Rumors floating around....do not be surprised if Taveras and or Martinez are moved in the offseason to plug holes on this team.

Bernie Miklasz has been dropping hints at this for over a week now.

Yeah, arm is what I was thinking too.. probably doesn't have the arm from deep in the hole.

But people have to be careful with that argument, bc it does take a strong arm to make that turn at second. You don't have the momentum going towards 1st, just have to gun it over.

He also just seems pretty boxy, he is fast in a straight line, but I wonder if he has that slick range and agility you see at SS.

I was all for keeping Kozma and letting him start for extended time this year. But yeah, he looks like he'll never be much at the plate. My argument for him is this -- I love his feet and lower body. He is so bouncy. He just looks like he'll never get hurt, he's so limber and loose. I like his defense a lot. The guy still hasn't gotten 500 at bats (I think).. I bet he would be a .265-.275 type hitter by his 2nd or 3rd year in the league. That's not bad for an 8th hitter. But I, like most, want more.

I thought much the same going into the year as well. I just dont know man. The guy has never been able to hit over .250 in the minors and his minor league norms are closer to .230 than to .250. I do agree and think his defense gets overlooked at times because he is just terrible at the plate.

He may very well not have the potential to be a .265-.275 hitter.

But he's a guy that has a good eye, doesn't strike out too too much, has as bit of a knack for getting a big hit when it's really needed. Just think there's a chance he can be a .260+ hitter.

He was so underdeveloped coming out of HS.. his minor league numbers are bad, but if the guys not gonna strike out a lot and gives good at bats I'd think he becomes a decent hitter.

I don't know Yadis ML numbers, but he didn't really become a hitter until his late 20s.

It did take Yadi a while to find his offesne in the bigs. It took Ozzie a while to find his stroke as well.

Dont know, just dont know.

I won't be surprised one bit if there is an offseason move for a SS though.

Personally, I'd take this. Sure I'd want more, but I'd take it given his defense. What I can't take is .200 or whatever he's hitting right now. Seriously, I think Waino is a bigger threat at the plate.

Assuming it's the right move, I almost wouldn't mind this. As much as I like all of our young pitchers, it does us no good if we have them in the minors for 80% of the season their entire career. I'm torn on Taveras. Earlier, I was wanting to make him the CF and get rid of Jay. Jay's bat is coming around now, so I guess one or the other. Again, not doing the club any good if there isn't a place for both on the roster.

I would say little Pedro aka Carlos goes they can't move taveras with the uncertainty of Beltran and age

Taveras won't be traded bc of his ankle surgery. And if we do trade him it will be for less than what we could get for him. He doesn't fit the Cardinal culture, I'm not sure why he's been seen as untouchable for so long.

Unfortunately they may trade Martinez. He doesn't fit the culture as well as the other prospects. It's unfortunate because he's the only A+, electric, special starting prospect that we have. All the other guys are really really good, but just B+ or A players, Martinez could be an A+ talent.

When they drafted Gonzalez, a nerdy twitchy Kantrovitz was ecstatic with the selection. He raved about how he fit the culture.. and I know exactly what he means by that, Gonzalez is a mature, hard working, straight laced, even keeled guy. That's awesome, love having a lot of guys like that.. but you need that swagger and specialness and creativity that only true elites possess. Martinez has that, but that doesn't fit the Cards culture. Wouldn't be surprised to see him moved.

Cardinal game tonight. Holliday with another huge night. 2/3 with 2 doubles. Scored on the first one to go up 1-0 and drove in the game winner with the second double.

I was at the game tonight too. Nice night for Holliday and Carp. Freese had 2 RBIs too, I believe.

Let me know when Holliday shows up in a close game. Its rare.

Also let me know when he shows up for the playoffs. So far he's 0-2.

But good win. Needed to capitalize w their bum on the mound
