Dykes is a former great OC with P5 head coaching experience. His teams have been known for winning or losing by big scores not great defenses.

Odom is our guy. Awesome DC. Great reports. May be able to keep the good part of the staff together. Unknown qty as head coach, unknown qty on offense. Most of us have a good feeling about him.

Who ya got?

Dykes? Hell fricking no. That guy has a losing record as head coach. This better not be true.

Would rather roll the dice on Odom than Dykes. If what he said about Cal is true, we don't need that kind of mouth/attitude/demeanor. Plus, his record isn't all that great. Of those two, give me Odom and let's see what he can do.

Eta-I don't believe it's down to those two. That isn't the home run hire I think MR is looking for. JMO, I know nothing.

No way Rhoades is fricking stupid enough to hire Sonny Dykes. I mean there are no redeeming qualities whatsoever with this guy.

Can't be real, it just can't.

On top of that, if he is actually that stupid he'll also be hiring our basketball coach before we can fire him.

This guy is on the verge of tanking our AD for a good decade or better.

Don't be a fricking clown, Mack.

Don't live or die on each day's stories. We've still got a few days.

Could wind up with someone completely different tomorrow.

Yeah if it's not Herman I'd rather just get Odom.

What if we lose Odom while waiting on Herman and then he says no (if that's who it is, which I doubt)? He really want's tejas and there are credible reports he is staying at Houston. It's starting to feel like Marshall all over again.

If you read between the lines from yahoo et al it seems it Dykes. But why the wait?

I'm kind of at the point of just get Odom. He has balls and really wants it.

If Rhoades passes over Odom for a loser like Sonny Dykes I am going to lose it.

Besides, Dykes is done for the season, if he was gonna get the job no reason not to announce. The hold up is because MRs choice plays this weekend.

I don't believe it's Dykes. He doesn't fit the story of someone playing in a game this weekend. He just doesn't seem like someone who would fit at Mizzou.

Dykes doesn't run the ball. That's fine in the Pac 12 or Big 12, but that won't fly in the SEC.

Hopefully Dykes is just another part of the smokescreen.

Calhoun, Bobo, or Fedora (if he's even still in the conversation), would be better choices then Dykes.

There are zero credible reports mac has interviewed or even met with Herman. Given that Herman has a CG to prepare for how could he? Same with Fedora. Is mac gonna do this all behind the scene with just a phone call? I don't see it. The whole two candidates and waiting on a CG thing is internet forum rumors and doesn't really make a lot of sense.

These are the known candidates:
Troy Calhoun
Matt Wells
Mike Bobo
Sonny Dykes
Barry Odom

The whole mystery home run hire waiting on a CG thing sounds as credible as Alden meeting secretly with Greg Marshall.

Memphis is putting a lot of pressure on Odom. They have to, if he isn't coming they have to get on a back up plan like now. There are rumors of a Thursday deadline. That sounds like a credible rumor

I don't know that he needs to meet with Herman. He hired him less than a year ago. He knows what kind of guy he is and where he stands on a lot of things.

It's just about gauging interest and seeing if what they already know about each other translates to Mizzou.

Of those, I take Odom. But I'm a 40 year old Mizzou fan. So I'll put my cup on and hope for the best.

But once you find your guy, you hire. None of these candidates have games this weekend, so why not hire? No one just sits on it once a candidate has been chosen. If for no other reason to allow the other school to start their search.

IMHO Rhodes has his guy, these other interviews insure he chose correctly and keeps the focus off his candidate until his season is over.
