Umm, never mind.

Think they're also always been a little brother complex from KC.

Ehh I hear that from STL folks every now and then, but I think that's just wishful thinking. I don't think there's anything for a person in KC to envy about St. Louis besides the baseball team. In fact, I've found that most out of state kids that I meet at Mizzou prefer Kansas City to St. Louis. That being said, I personally think STL is a fine city and don't have any "complex" or disdain for it.

In my opinion, the argument stems from the difference in culture between the two cities. Make no mistake, the difference between Kansas City and St. Louis when it comes to attitude and "feel" is no smaller than the difference between San Diego and Philadelphia.

And last but not least, I think the most direct cause of the cross-state pissing match is because of MLB. Cardinal fans are obviously very proud of their team, and definitely aren't afraid to tell you about it. Couple that with a Royals fanbase that has been starved for success for 30 years, and it's a bad combo. I will say from experience that the chest thumping can be very off-putting and annoying (of course these are college aged kids I'm talking about).

In a perfect world, I'd like to see KC and STL come together as Missourians and be buddies due to our commonalities (kind of like I wish we'd do with Arky) but unfortunately I think it'll always be doomed to a pissing match.

Doubt you personally have a complex, you seem too well adjusted for that.

This is the primary fuel for the complex.. maybe not fair to label a city as bitter just bc of baseball, but it is a big part of our culture in this state. I also think the Arch, a major US landmark, plays some part in this.. STL does have a lot more recognition.

I would probably feel the same if I was from out of state and visited the downtown area of both cities. STL and it's hot spots are just too spread out, it's a very hard city to get a feel for if you're an outsider.

It is gross seeing adults act like this.. sorry you were subject to it. Middle aged guy with slightly below average penis and so-so job get's to feel like he is truly great when he puts on his Cardinal jersey. Put a few beers in him and a Cards victory in KC, and he'll let you know about it.

Just wish that KC people saw STL as their NL team. There is definitely animosity and bitterness, wish our side didn't rub it in so much, and wish your side was more accepting of superior big brother

Personally, there are a ton of things I like about KC more than STL. I said it before and I'll say it again, I don't get the whole animosity thing between the 2 cities. I don't know a single person in St. Louis that thinks in terms of which city is better than the other. There may be a contingent somewhere, but every single person I know in St. Louis loves KC and loves going there. It's probably the most popular destination for team trips, whether baseball, soccer or whatever.

Arguing about which city is better is about as dumb as saying St. Louis as a whole doesn't think of themselves as being Missourians.

+1 from what I have seen is people that i know (from STL, myself included at times) get more defensive about being from STL when people from Chicago / KC talk about how they think their city is so much better than STL. lol ive never seen a "Supreme Mentality" from St.Louisans. Again im sure there are some but for the most part I'd say its as normal as anywhere else...

Don't think the context of that was ab arguing which city is better.. but go with it man..

And I guess saying St Louisans as a whole don't embrace the Missourah in them is pretty dumb, you're right. Didn't someone from Georgia say it's the same way down there, that ATL people don't embrace Georgia the way it's done in more rural areas..

Was that another indirect comment that wasn't (cough) meant for me, or you ready to man up and admit that you're a cowardly chirper?

I think people from STL look down on people from KC because they see the truth - that the money and the nice areas of KC are in Kansas while the trashier poorer parts of KC are in Missouri.

KC MO gives the entire state of Missouri a bad reputation, while KC Kansas is full of pretentious Jayhawkers.

No matter what, KC is a lost cause.

I believe that's why STL hates KC. STL believes they're better than KC, and in reality they are.

Whatever the context (and there was discussion about which one people prefer) the whole KC vs. STL thing is stupid. They're both great cities and both have upsides and downsides.

Mogray, take it however you want. It's my direct thoughts on the whole stupid debate. It's wasn't directed at you, but at the topic, but if you want to take it personally, I really don't give a shite. You are calling someone else a cowardly chirper while safely behind your computer screen. Now that is funny.

I would if I could. They banned me within 5 hours over on TB. Thought I was a jayhawker. Go figure.

I think they may have IP blocked me too.

Someone else post it and let me know when you do.

This is awesome and I wholly support it.

On the other hand, "Missouri Blues" would be rather redundant to "Missouri Tigers", unfortunately.
