looks like Andy hill is the frontrunner for Montana State.

LINK

Sounds like he will enjoy semi retirement in a place where he can hunt and fish and not have pressure. At least we know Lock won't follow him.

He could be great. I don't really see a Kim Anderson comparison except for surface level nonsense. But I think there's still a medium chance he is mediocre. And mediocrity is failing in CFB.

I would think KA fans love this hire because it is the antithesis of what happened to KA. Odom wasn't passed over like KA was passed over. If Odom were 105 and coming from Northwest Missouri State, then I'd get the comparison.

This hire means nothing. Success or failure will be determined by whom he hires and fires. If he tries to rehab Hensen, Washington and Jones instead of firing, he's screwed. Ford misses too many big st. Louis recruits so he needs help. And a damn good QB coach.

The problem with most Defensive side HC's is they are too conservative on offense.

Their mindset is to control the opposing offense and too often they bring that attitude to their own offense.

And losing Kul is going to be a crushing blow. The one area where Mizzou had made a national impact.

I truly do hope that he's smart enough to just completely turn the reigns of the offense over to whomever it is he trusts enough to name as his OC.

Will be a huge loss if we lose Kul. But I don't think anyone had any better of a shot to keep him than Odom.

As to the OP, now they better be willing to run through a brick wall for him. And if that means missing the next protest, they best do it. Get after it now with more intensity.

The defense played hard all season, we still lost 7 games.

Players love him, that's great. Will he recruit well enough? Guy has zero HC experience in college football. People are basically saying they are happy with 7-8 wins a year and a bowl.

AD at Mizzou is the easiest job in sports, all you have to do is find an inexperienced guy that's a Mizzou alum and hire him.

This.

Rhoades better be good at something, like fund raising. At least Mizzou does not have to pay a search firm a fee for this dang promotion. Sexton will still sink his fangs into Mizzou's neck.

Rhoades just got strike one in my book.

I do too. And people do cite his intelligence.

Unfortunately most go into it with a Jeff Fisher mindset and lose a ton of 17-13 games.

Strike 3 will be when he hires another clown to coach the basketball team. That will be around the same time that we finished almost last in the East for the 2nd year in a row.

So about 3 years from now MR won't have a job.

Odom? No. I plan to do a serious write up later while at work that explains my position. In short, I think they needed to clean house, coaches and some players. I just don't think the University has the balls to do it.

Mizzou has an SEC zip code while living on a mid-major budget.

Truthfully, to me this isn't a good thing.

The players quit on the season, quit on the coaching staff, and put everyone in a bad position with the boycott.

Having a fresh face come in that is able to lay down expectations and re-instill that stability and discipline from the beginning could have been very beneficial IMO.

You don't care what they think, they can go frick themselves, but you want them to win.

Got it.

Who said they are happy with "7-8 wins and a bowl"?

By agreeing that Odom was the best candidate for the job, people are saying they are going to be happy with 7 or 8 wins and a bowl game. Because that's where we're headed.

We don't know where we are headed. I understand the frustration though, I lived through the 80's and 90's. Odom may be just what Mizzou needs, he very well may be that star people portray him as and we take a step up. Time will tell.

Most people pitch their tent in the Yay or Nah camp and proceed from there. I'm staying out of both camps and take a wait and see attitude. His coaching staff should say alot of where we may be heading.

The first article I posted in the assistant coach talk thread disagrees with you.

They post multiple beat writer twitters that speculate the only holdovers could be Hill, Walters and Kul.

That sounds like a house cleaning to me.

If the defense "quit" on Odom this year, I hope they quit on him every year he's here.
