He's a C+ hire. But if it's 3.5 million, that's an "A" salary.

After 3 years of "F", maybe a C+ is a helluva jump and we should be doing orgasmic cartwheels...

But, all in all, I ain't too excited at this point.

There is only 1 reason we'd have to go that high.

He's making less than 2M at Cal

You realize only like 5 coaches in the country make more than 4 right?

Who do you think we could get for 4M that's better than Martin? Marshall turned down almost 5M from Bama last year.

I don't get why fans do this to themselves all the time.

He wasn't my first choice, but I would be happy with him as coach.

Martin is not worth 3.5 a year.

There's a lot of mid major guys who would be better choices.

Salaries in the Big 10: No. 1 is Michigan State's Tom Izzo at $3.49 million, followed by Indiana's Tom Crean at $3.16 million, and Ohio State's Thad Matta at $3.2 million.

Hes worth what the market dictates hes worth. As I said, we didnt go that high because we were the only one after him. We had competition and actually didnt go cheap. Be happy for that if nothing else.

I'm okay with it. Should be able to recruit STL which would be a new and welcome idea. 3.5 is steep, but I actually don't think his track record is all that bad. He left Tennessee for reasons that weren't really his issues. Now he would be coming home. Missouri State is a stepping stone. I'd imagine if he has success he will stay put.
I'd like that top 100 guard to come with him as well. Jeremiah Tillmon what's up buddy....Torrence Watson come on down. I've heard Watson's mother doesn't want him playing with Cartere Gordon. Kid is a knucklehead, but uber talented.

who is bidding against us then? everyone is sure that Illinois will get him and they have deeper pockets. THey have been going after Bennett from the jump. Mu has been rumored to be offering top 5 money. Comparing Bama and MU in terms of bball is laughable. if we gave Marshall 5 mil, he would be here

Agree, but the kid does have some things he needs to figure out. You can say that about a lot of young folk though.

Agreed. Bama could have offered him 6 or 7 and he may have said no simply because he doesn't want to play second fiddle to Saban. Alabama is football all the time.
