Russell had been practicing for 2 weeks before Troy- was cleared for contact on Thursday- and didnt play a snap.

There is no way I think Mullen runs Russell out there against LSU for the 1st series. If you planned to play him vs LSU- I think you get him a series vs Troy just to get his feet wet again. Especially against a much weaker pass rush

this. I see no possible way to start Tyler right now. If Dak isn't moving the ball, bring Tyler in and let him sling it.

Why wait until we are losing?

Why would we be losing after a drive or two? If LSU scores every possession, it won't matter who our QB is.

Do you guys think Russell would have scored 62 against Troy? If you do, you should just give up the interne

Hell I can't think of another QB other than Cam that rushed for a TD, threw for a TD and caught a fricking TD all in the same game. Muffin is trolling the entire fanbase if he trots Russell out there. The BooDawgs will be loud as hell. Does he want a national TV audience to hear that?

Anyone that boos Tyler Russell just because he is on the field should be escorted from DW and their money returned for their tickets and banished from ever attending another game.

I say Tyler starts and I am OK with that. He has done nothing to lose the starting position just because he got hurt. He either does well to start off against LSU or he doesn't. If he doesn't, Dak comes in. Now if he sticks with Tyler and we aren't moving the ball, I have a problem.....
rewatch the OSU game. TR's head never got hit on play he got pulled on. Dude has squirrels

He made some really costly bad throws in that game. I am aware that it was the first game of the year, but if you are gonna stand perfectly still in the pocket, you better be accurate.

I was surprised too when they said he had a concussion because I didn't see the blow to the head either. You are medical though. You know that he couldn't fake concussion symptoms for this long.

True. I think Mullen is protecting him with this whole "concussion" thing. I think that what TR has going on in his head has nothing to do with a concussion. And I hate it for the kid. I would never boo him and I would be more inclined to punch someone that did. He has been nothing but a positive role model for young kids and a great spokesperson for State. His square peg abilities just never fit Mullen's round hole offense. I think he is so flustered by Mullen's offense and his ability to not fit in it that it has caused him too much grief and stress.

It's different in that he wasn't cleared for contact and was basically a none factor at practicing. I'm fine with him not touching the field after only being cleared on thursday.

You don't have to reply to me. From now on, I will just think of the most homeristic Tyler thing possible and assume that that is how you feel.

Why? I'm just keeping it real. Dak wasn't even in the game for the 4th quarter. How was he the guy that made the points in that?

The bottom line is that Dak is going to be good. He is simply not where TR is in the passing game YET. That's all.

TR showed he can run. He did in 2011 with getting the call against UAB. He has done it when asked too. Maybe, JUST maybe they will stop calling all of the bs plays and keep it open.

Oh geez.. so now Russell never had a concussion.

Seriously, he had one. Seriously, he was throwing well. Seriously the play calling pulled the ball out of his hands and into Perkins. We went run. 16 passes is what he threw in 3 quarters against the 110th ranked passing defense of 2012.

Now tell me who the loss is on in that?

Again, TR has ran the same offense. He has ran those plays. It's not up to him to call it. That's the coaching.

Fact is, he doesn't have to rush it 25 times a game to make him a dual threat. However, right now, Dak is not a dual threat. Not against ap ranked teams and the SEC. He's only 47%.

God dammit I hope he never does get to where TR is in the passing game!! Interceptions out the arse and choking in big games. Yeah such a great place to be!!!

You have never kept it real when talking about Russell.

He's already good

quote:

Nobody said he is. Even though he is as efficient statistically. Doesn't mean he isn't more of a threat, which he is.

quote:

TR showed he can run.

The only time he has shown he can run was when he pulled the ball against Memphis and no one was on that side of the field, so he didn't have to outrun or avoid anyone.

quote:

He has done it when asked too

No he hasn't. Has succeeded a couple times in his career because it was so wide open, and he has showed he can't many many more times.

I thought you were just keeping it real?

Mullen said last Monday he would start if he was cleared. He was cleared- and not only did he not start- he didnt play a snap.

Prescott will be the QB on the first snap vs LSU and probably most of them for the entire game.

b-b-b-b-but Russell set records????

SEC top 10 QB's:

10. Dak Prescott, Mississippi State: He might have started the year as Tyler Russell's backup, but Prescott has been impressive since Russell was sidelined with a concussion in Week 1. It might be hard to take him out with the numbers he has put up so far. Prescott has thrown for 709 yards with three touchdowns and one interception and has a team-high 215 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Hard to believe they put him in ahead of Russell and his impressive body of work**

Well, the rumor is starting to make it around that we are going to try and hold him out- let him get a medical RS and transfer to a school with an offense that fits him. But if Dakota gets hurt or is simply ineffective, Mullen is going to play Russell.

This didnt come from any of my normal guys- so it could be a complete crock of shite and may very well be. No way to tell until the LSU game

This is a shitty situation, but if it came to this I couldn't blame him. I'd like for Russell to get a chance to play in an offense that fits his style.

Makes ya think how things may have been different if he ended up going to Bama.
