dead period shred period....we are trying to keep committments on board and an OC would help...just saying...Im not suggesting a hire is close at hand mind you....merely giving some of the reasons a bowl bound asst coach may announce with UF his hiring. To name a OC after bowl season is a long road ahead and we need the recruiting.

We have had two very good classes and a third would he icing on the cake. Boom knows we have to recruit athletes with elite talent on the basis of three years and done... it makes it tough trying to balance everythi9ng out. OL, DL & LB is critical and round out the offense.

I would question the kid's timing without a OL coach hired. I would want to know who my position coach was going to be.

This is the best article I have seen regarding a new OC and offensive philosophy.

To call the girls school a spread is a stretch and Im glad that GC clarified that. Winston isn't going to run much.

A true spread is finesse and I hate it....avoid contact? Boom isn't going to do that. I think we under estimate what our team might have done if Driskel and a few others had stayed healthy this year...we won 11 games with a very methodical ball control offense in 2012. We threw for 297 yds of offense against SCUM even though we coughed it up 5 times.

No one wants to see an offense like 2013 when we are starting 3rd string qbs....but if that did happen we could expect more of the same no matter what we ran. I think we will be very surprised by the product put on the field in 2014. Just some more improvement in wrs and a TE who can threaten the middle would help a lot.

I am starting to think its Helton too. All the pieces add up. Sources out there are saying Champ is waiting for the bowl season to end to announce the hire, meanwhile Helton is the interim headcoach. Helton runs a hybrid pro style/spread offense that should make the players, the fans and Muschamp happy. Helton is not going to be retained by USC and will be looking for a new job. He is really the only "homerun hire" that would be available unless Foley feels like backing up the Brinks truck to someones house.

Could we be hearing about the JUCO OL? Or how about Holley (sp) the kid is listed as OL/DT in some recruiting circles (twen us and Penn State) or Sharpe? Three possibles?

Like the idea of Helton because he has to have reptile blood in him. His dad played center at a time when you had to watch your ear hole. Im partial to OL anyway.

I have made my choice for now and I want Philip Montgomery (Baylor OC). He has done a good job of developing QBs at Baylor and Houston. Baylor has been plug and play at QB the last two years after RG III.

Why has Foley and Muschamp pull the trigger with any of these guys?

Based on things I have heard, the hire is done. The OC has requested that they wait to announce it though.

That's not uncommon. Especially if they are in a bowl or have been on the recruiting trail for the past couple weeks

Exactly. The players have been told 2 things...

1) The hire has been made
2) Schematic change on offense
