OK, good idea but how does it work? When someone makes a stupid statement in another thread, do we copy it, paste to this forum, reference that the comment has been sent to the chat-steel cage for further discussion and then call them an idiot in here?

Ok...heres something thats food for thought....but we all know some folks are starving and refuse food nourishment that helps brain cells

Lets go down memory lane to 1979 and Charley Pell's first season...which was an unmitigated disaster to put it mildly 0-10-1.

All of the negative nellies would have jumped ship and put on ketchup and mustard gear to wear. I think Pell acquitted himself quite well afterwards...thank God this was before internet message boards

And before anyone throws out he cheated...ahhh I got a news flash for you...Pell played at Bama and learned from the meister himself, Bear Bryant...BUT the NCAA back then was trying set examples in Texas and Florida because of the hotbed those states were for recruiting thats why SMU was targeted while sacred cows like UT & Okla werent.

UF did nothing that other schools werent doing....or more. One of our transgressions? I kid you not...we bought a prospect a pack of gum at an airport because he didnt like flying because his ears popped ( I hate it too).

We did have some more serious infractions...our friend George Steinbrenner, let us use his plane in Ohio to fly a prospect from that state to Gainesville. George was a real benefactor to not only UF, but to the girls school and USF...donating a lot of $$, especially to the baseball programs. Think the girls school wasnt cheating? Guess again...and diddy bowden became a "great co0ach" because of our NCAA penalties which no SEC team in modern history has suffered...not even close.

But back to the story line... we havent gone 0-10-1 (btw the tie was to Ga Tech in a monsoon downpour that took Scot Brantley out for the season in an early 7-7 game) and we have been winning the east division and say all the crap you want...but UT or UGA havent made it in years.

We were immediately improved in 1980 and had a senior WR in Cris Collinsworth from Titusville and a new frosh QB in Wayne Peace who shared duties with Bob Hewko, an upperclassmen who started the season and went down with an injury.

We took the eventual NC UGA team to the mat before the Lindsey Scott TD last minute miracle.

1981 saw slight improvement on defense...but we were still not a stout team...ditto 1982...but we had an offense then that could compete with great RBs, but we would always lose to UGA and in 1983 at AU was heartbreaking...but we also lost to UGA in a tight game. 1984 saw a new QB from Mayo...Kerwin Bell, a r/s frosh WALK ON...but the NCAA rang us up even though we did beat the crap out of almost everyone.

The story is related here to tell you not to jump off the damn ledge...we have a lot of positives if you can wade the shite being tossed about by negative impatient folks.

But isn't there about 200 4/5 stars players per year and about 3000 3 star players?

I will take stars and championships in college over heart and moral victories but that's just me .
