Not to mention the facilities that are brand new. Spurrier built a great platform, but he did himself in with the 2-3 remarks. We use that platform with a new surge in recruiting that a new coach can bring and we'll be alright.

I don't think the 2-3 year remark is what derailed our program.

Spurrier got complacent and thought that he was at Florida in the mid 90s again. What derailed our program was replacing great assistant coaches with shitty ones in a good ol' boys network

It wouldn't have changed last year's 7-6 season, but it definitely killed the recruiting class that really would've helped over the next cuple of years.

Y'all are all wrong about Carolina's short list except for one name I saw mentioned. I believe everyone will be pleased, should it happen.

Wish Rooster was here. He knows more than I and I know a good bit.

One thing to remember that is paramount to everything else: Spurrier has not gone anywhere yet.

Wish I could, but I will tell you if I'm wrong.

You have phrased the question incorrectly. The question is not WHO but WHAT.

Most coaching deals are done well in advance and out of the public view. Hires that seem to happen overnight or in under a month may have been underway for a year or more. The bigger the money gets, the more I believe this will continue in the future. I believed the UM to Ohio State deal was done at least in principle before he ever announced the "health" issues and I believe it even more in all that has happened since.

First, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Spurrier still knows more about football than a stadium full of armchair coaches. Not saying that to be mean, just saying sometimes you have to stop and step back before making a snap decision. On top of that, most AD's are becoming more corporate, but that does not mean they do not have some instincts to get them to the jobs they have right now.

Second, expand the window beyond just this moment in time and understand what makes a coach, or more importantly, who makes them. I hear the name Strong mentioned but who was his magic man at Louisville that he no longer has at Texas? I hear Smart mentioned but he is still at Alabama under another boss so you have to ask yourself why?

I guessed Spurrier to SC about a year before it was announced and I had no inside information. Most of the insights were based on observations to make a high probability degree "educated guess" and were out there if you took time to connect the information that was publicly available. Stop focusing on "names" and concentrate on tangible points beneficial to SC. Maybe then the tree reveals itself among the forest.

TL;DR version
Take a deep breath right now and ask the right questions if you want the probable answers.

I wouldn't be shocked, at all, to see Strong here after UT lets him go.

I would be shocked to see him here as a HC. We're going to go after a winner, not after a guy who got fired from his last job.

A couple more losses and Chip Kelly might be ready to come back to the college game.

More than anything, we need a guy that is a relentless recruiter, and someone that will have a comprehensive plan toward recruiting. Would also be nice to get someone in their prime, not on their farewell tour.

SOS should have left last year, he wouldn't have taken all the criticism for the collapse; it would have been a down year after 3 great ones, he still gets a statue and all that.

I would love to think we make a move this year, but I don't see it happening.

Good lord son, I just gave you a blueprint. Do kids these days not listen? Do your own research and draw your own conclusions.

If Scrooster and I meet in the real world for a nip of bourbon we may discuss it amongst ourselves but why put it on a public board for all the world to see? If we are right it will just mess up anything already in the works and if we are wrong some idiot will read it here, and if you ever played telephone as a kid, it will get crapped up in the retelling.
