We offered him knowing that he was a sign an d place b/c of grades. It's not like we could wave a magic wand and help him all the sudden qualify academically to any school.

We're not MIT or Stanford, that's true, but we're also not some small school just looking for bodies either. Also, our admission standards have gone WAY up in the past 10 years as we're having more applicants than ever. Look at the numbers for this year's USC FR class.

Applied: 25,736
Enrolled: 5,190
GPA (high school average): 4.01
SAT range: 1130-1280
ACT range: 25-30

Of course there are some brilliant student athletes out there, but how many Div1 players would really fit into the above qualifications for GPA, SAT, ACT? The Athletic Dept and Admissions have some degree of wiggle room, but if a kid doesn't meet the NCAA minimum qualifications, there's nothing anybody can do.

We just made a move with 4* DT Stephon Taylor. Something happened with florida state, they are now out of the picture. The fsu insiders don't feel good about their chances and TM from TBS flipped his pick to SC this evening. Then the other 247 guys flipped their picks to SC.

We can't put Taylor in the commit list just yet, but it looks promising. Duiobate has picks going towards Temple right now. He's really thinking hard about staying closer to his family in PA.

Either way, all of the guys we're waiting on will announce by 11 a.m., so we'll know what's what in about 12 hours.

IF we sweep the board: Duiobate, Taylor, Banks, R. Davis, A Thompson, we'll end up with a Top 25 class and possibly #24 or #23. We'd have to get a surprise 4* not mentioned to move any higher than that.

3* WDE Sci Martin, is a tcu commit, he's Stephon Taylor's teammate, he had 33.5 Sacks this season, and now he's not signing today. bama offered last month, but 247 thinks we could also have a role here in this situation.

Damn he's fast ha
