He must be a stud.

He has 28 offers from just about everyone that counts and sheesh,

He is, however, he is not a qualifier YET. He has to take the ACT/SAT this spring and do well enough. Depending on that score, he's either IN, or will likely go to Prep or JUCO.

Anyone see anything confirming Dioubate making it to campus?

I figured as much ... just didn't want to say it because I saw the Stanford offer and got to thinking, maybe not.

That's a great point, but he got that offer and a bunch of others in late '14 and early '15, so schools offered early in hopes that all the academics work out. I don't know if it's a situation where he took the test and didn't do well, or if he's just not taken the ACT/SAT at all yet. I did see an insider on 247 write that he doesn't have a qualifying test score "yet" but that could be open to interpretation. Either way, his academic advisors and our coaches probably have a good idea on what he needs to score, so hopefully he does that this spring.

Believe he leaves Lansing today and flies to us. He should be on campus later today or tomorrow, from how I understand it.

He has 50 offers, is the son of a well-respected high school coach and he is an honor student that has already qualified to enroll at any school he chooses.

He's a big fan of Charlie Strong, so is his Dad. Perhaps that is going to play into things?

quote:

Roach, the son of MPA coach Michael Roach, committed to Strong during a Wednesday (5 November 2015) phone call.

“To tell you the truth, Charlie Strong has always been one my favorite coaches,” Roach said. “And he’s one of my Dad’s favorites too. When he called, well that just put it over the top.”

The 6-foot-4, 255-pound Roach is a three-star prospect, according to rivals.com. He received approximately 50 scholarship offers ...

“The thing we’re the most proud of is the way Malcolm handled the process,” Michael Roach said. “We wanted him to handle it in a business-like way and with humility. It’s an honor to have this many schools interested in you and he treated it like that.”

Roach said Strong told him he’d play either defensive end or linebacker for the Longhorns. After earning Class 1A all-state and All-Metro honors as a junior, Roach has compiled 96 tackles, 18 tackles for losses, 12 sacks, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in his 2A debut.

“I’ve enjoyed the recruiting process and all the schools that showed an interest in me,” Roach said. “There’s no pressure to this at all. The time feels right and I feel like I’ve made the best decision.”

An honor student, Roach has already met the NCAA’s academic qualifying standards and plans a college major in kinesiology with an eye on being a coach one day.

“What can I say,” Roach said of his career plans. “It’s in the blood.”

Just spoke with a source who said everything is still on track for four-star DT Karamo Dioubate to arrive in Columbia later tonight for his official visit.

Also hearing that SC has moved on from 3* S Daniel Thomas due to academic reasons.

Couldn't ask for better weather this weekend.

I hope that plays well for the big guy from PA during his visit.

DL Aaron Thompson is now on his way for an OV. This kid is the monster from SoFla I wanted. We didn't have a spot for him at SDE, so he committed to Maryland, but now that Stalling is out, he's coming for an OV today.

Muschamp was going to honor Stalling's commitment, but he told him that he might need to find a better place for him back in January. That was a classy way to handle it by Muschamp. Now we can go after Aaron full throttle and flip him.

From what i read about the Aaron Thompson situation:
He did not tell the maryland coaches he was going to OV here.
They ask their guys not to OV elsewhere after they commit.
Their coaches were scheduled to go see him today, and instead he left to OV here.

Conclusion:
We're flipping him.

Wonder what the deal was with him?

Did we back off and quit showing him the love, or did he flip to Miss State?

He had some decent offers and T-Rob was recruiting him I guess.

He's one of the guys originally committed to Whammy though, if I remember correctly?

Ohhhhh, okay, gotcha! That makes sense.

Well good then.

Aaron Thompson, on paper and on film at least, looks like the better bet.

Stallings was committed this summer. Muschamp told him in Dec that his commitment to the previous staff was still going to be honored but encouraged him to take a look around to see if he could find a better fit, (about the most diplomatic way to do this type of thing.) The coaches weren't really reaching out to him anymore for the past several weeks, and the 247 indicators indicated several weeks ago that he would be a guy that would probably end up elsewhere. So now it's all come to fruition.

Correct, and IMO it's not close. Thompson is a lot better than Stallings, I hope we flip him. Thompson's film is excellent, he has a great motor and he was the DPOY for his conference.

Also, I don't know if it was mentioned yet, but our BUCK recruit, Kier Thomas, made the AP All State Team.

That's saying something in Florida.

This DLine class, especially if mUSChamp closes strong, it has potential.

I heard on the radio just a little while ago that the Bama game tomorrow is a sell-out. That should play well for this recruiting weekend, along with this weather, gotta like it.

Wonder if we are reaching out to any specific members of this Ole Miss class ... I kinda doubt it.
