tOBC back in the day. Have grown to respect him though over the years.
I wish Saban was the coach at UGA so no hate there.
I do hate the fans of both programs though. Gumps are the worst followed by UF.

people here either are too young or don't have an honest memory. Most people love spurrier now, when he was kicking the shite out of everyone, routinely dropping 40, 50 points and running up the score in the most obvious manner possible...
everyone hated him. more than pete carroll, more than nick saban, more than any one coach in CFB history.
fricking hated him.

This thread is full of fail.
First of all, Spurrier did not "run up the score" per se. He would put in his second and third string players like any other coach did when the score got out of hand. The big difference though is that he believed in giving the second and third string QBs some passing reps to build toward the future (meanwhile other schools usually just ran the ball every play to run out the clock). Passing late in the game can lead to a lot of additional scoring obviously, but it isn't necessarily in an attempt to RUTS.
As for Saban, he is not rude, but he does get testy with reporters that ask those cliche-style questions. He's not good at hiding the fact that it pisses him off.
Also, it's true that Saban did work his assistant coaches to death...still does, but now his assistants realize that he is the best coach in college football and tolerate it as a learning experience. When he was still a new head coach at Toledo and Michigan State, all of his assistants would quit. After he won the national title at LSU, his assistants finally began to realize that he knew what he was doing, so they conformed.

I don't know if I would say I liked him but I definitely respected his coaching and I appreciated him showing restraint on the scoreboard.
In Shula's first year, Saban had LSU on the way to winning the NC. Bama just plain sucked and Saban could have named the score. Final score was 27-3.
I thought that showed a lot of class by Saban. He realized that Shula was in over his head and chose not to embarrass him.
