I never really hated either one of them.

I didn't like Spurrier only because he was the Florida coach. But he's a Johnson City boy, and Tennessee should have recruited him. We didn't, and we've been cursed because of it.

I respect Saban too much to hate him.

Bammers hate this fine man worse than any other.

They kick puppies and slap their sisters at sight of his photo.

Oh, because history has been rewritten (like several Gump claimed NCs) to prove Saban left LSU for T-Town.

There was always a level of respect for Spurrier. Even though everyone hated him, you respected him for the type of person he was.

Not sure if Saban is "hated" more but he certainly has less respect.

I think any lover of the game almost shed a tear when Spurrier decided to hang it up a few weeks ago. No one will give a rats arse if the midget retires.

Jeff Hall and Tennessee made that arse quit.

Actually, this is the perfect example of Gator fans, fair-weather as frick. Perfect type of fan for the Gump bandwagon.

Soooo, who were you a fan of until you jumped on the Gump wagon 10 years later?

Saban, Spurrier was a lot more dominant in the SEC (this isn't really isn't debatable) but everyone deep down loved Spurrier because he was funny and and a bad arse, Saban is just like a really bad Leprechaun sequel.

Tennessee, for a season. Then LSU, then Miami, then Oklahoma, then USC, Florida again, and now Bama. He's gotten tired of jumping from dick to dick, but LSU has a chance to reclaim his fanhood on Saturday.

I watched Spurrier ring up 50 on LSU one nite in TS & he was still throwing deep pass after deep pass late in the 4th quarter. In his last game here this yr, before he quit on his team, an LSU running back was approaching the goal line with under 20 seconds to play but obviously could not score. I was screaming "get out of bounds, get out of bounds" to stop the clock & give us another chance to score...and ring up 50+ on his arse. He was a cocky prick during games in those days. Saban is just a prick as a person. He seldom if ever runs up the score.

Spurrier, no doubt.

Saban isn't beating other teams 56-3 and laughing about it at press conferences.

opposing fans hate Saban because he beats their team a lot....

But Saban has been more consistent in winning

Do you have any reason to believe this other than just because you want to?

Because I have Spurrier at 0.83500 in his first 8 years at UF and Saban at 0.83495 at Alabama.

And Bama could've had Bowden. That would've made TSIO very interesting for a decade or so..m

Has to be Spurrier. He dominated the entire conference in the 1990s. He won the SEC East 6 straight years and won the SEC Championship 5 of those years.

Saban has had tremendous success on a national level and inside the conference, but he's been challenged inside of his own division a few times. Granted, he's had to play in a much tougher SEC than Spurrier in the 1990s, but still, Spurrier was a more hated coach league-wide IMO.

Spurrier had to play FSU and UT every year - both of those teams were in the top 5 in win% for that period. Saban has only had to play top 6 LSU every year. In that sense Spurrier had the tougher road.

Fair enough, but the SEC, particularly the SEC West, is deeper now than it was with Spurrier at UF.

Plus, the FSU games had nothing to do with Spurrier's dominance of the conference. I assumed the OP meant most hated in the SEC, not necessarily nationwide.
