Software Engineering @ Auburn.

It took 4 years out of my life, but I am banking $74,500/year as of now.

Is this fair?

For the work involved, I think I should be making more. I am Software/Civil.

Just asking.

I went to MSU, but I have always been an LSU fan. Grew up near Starkville and simply went there because my white privilege check apparently was never there. Cheaper option.

I am a teacher and coach and make $74k also. Ironic.

I am asking $90,000 for my degree.

But, I will have to move to either Texas or the West Coast to match that money.

That is a large decision.

Hopefully you "older and wiser" guys can help me out.

I'm Mechanical Engineering and started out a little less than that.

How many years into your field are you? It may be different for software, but a few years in you should think about getting an MBA in night school and then go the management track. That's where the real money is at.

Nope, grew up in Baton Rouge and went to most home games from 90-94 before moving to Texas.

Props to the engineer and teacher/coach. You both deserve to make more.

Also, props to the Arkansas fans. I enjoyed my time around them.

Both grad degrees from LSU. Education is the one thing they can't take away from you young man so 4 yrs is nothing!! Hang in there, you'll be banking serious coin in time. Hit the sweet spot in your life with several mill locked away but more importantly with Gods grace your health and a wonderful family.

B.S. in Chemistry from LSU

I make nearly 7 figures.

Might as well be honest about half this post.

Someone is giving you bad info, if you think you have to move to those places just to get 90k doing software development.

ETA: Nvm, I see that you just graduated.

Thank you so much for your responses!

Just trying to get the most from my degree.

This market is a bit "tricky" at the moment. It is frustrating.

I don't know what to think about somebody who advertises their worth to strangers on the internet. I graduated from Bama in 99 after 2 yrs at JSU. This needs to be moved to the OT.

Are you an E1 or E2?

If so don't complain about that money. That's real good for an engineer right now, especially if you don't have a master's.

And yes, I did attend the University of Florida and get my Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering

"An SEC..." is the correct grammar you moron. I think the question for you is if you attended A university.

Yes, went to LSU freshman year, juco in Bama next two years for baseball, back to LSU to finish my degree...I tried to party my way out of college, but held on with a death grip because of fear of my mom if I failed out. I had an awesome 5 years of college, and eased right on into the real world kicking and screaming like a newborn shithead.

Thanks man!

I really just want to make the most of it.

Auburn professors are brutal once they wean out the weak.

I started out with 600 Engineer "hopefuls", but we graduated 20 students in May.

Math is a Bitch.
