Even if Sexton told Avery he wants to stay for two years, I hope we operate under the assumption he's one and done. With the way players transfer now, I wouldn't worry about roster spots so much.
We'd be foolish not to. Top 10 players don't typically stay more than a year and top 5 players have been pretty close to guaranteed to leave early.

If he's projected in the top 10, he'd be crazy not to leave and Avery would be crazy not to advise him to leave.

I don't want to see Dazon be the primary ball handler again either, and I certainly don't want AJ Jr starting.

Talking about their high school rankings, not draft projections. But yeah if you're mocked as a lottery pick as a freshman, you should jump on that.

Not even as a FR, you should pretty much leave anytime you are a lotto projection.
I mean, even if you improve position and $, it won't offset a full year of salary lost + getting to your second contract a year earlier (and attaining more veteran years early in career)

My daughter is a sophomore at Xavier and I have a son a junior at St Mary's.
No sh**. Small world, sister went to XCP and brother and I went to BCP

He was going to Brophy, but chose St Mary's for basketball.
St Marys can pump out some serious BBall talent, my brother played against Bayless and I remember Channing Frye too. If he can ball, St Marys is the choice for sure
I'd make an argument about academics and overall experience for the $, but I can see how a guy doesn't want to go to an all boys prep school

Was Bob Ryan the principal when you went to Brophy?
He took over as Principal at some point during my HS years. Family moved after FR year then moved by during SR so don't remember exactly when he came into that role

Mo Williams has taken over as coach for RM5Nike in Texas. They beat Houston Hoops in Mo's first game as coach with Avery watching

Combine invitations are going out right this moment. Already some names popping up confirmed on twitter that have received theirs. Key hasn't gotten one yet but all of the names haven't been released. I doubt he'll get one. Hopefully he'll make a decision shortly after.

Both Avery and Pelphrey saw a lot of EYBL teams yesterday. Don't know what Pettway is doing, and I haven't heard anything about Bob Simon in awhile.

Connor Vanover said Memphis is recruiting him harder than anyone right now. Likes coaching staff. Not concerned about offseason transfers.

Hopefully this is a big signal to him to come back.

There's really like a 1% chance he gets drafted, so he has 3 choices:
1. Go back to Bama
2. Stay in the draft and not be picked
3. Go overseas (Avery said they hadn't even discussed this as a possibility)

This has to be an humbling experience. Hopefully it makes him a better player.

Rhode Island made the tourney last year. Hopefully they're pretty good again. I like this series

This is a really solid series. They should be a tourney team again next year.

We really have a nice schedule now. Texas, Memphis, Rhode Island, possibly the Barclays Center Classic with BYU and UMass, possibly Oregon State at the Staples Center, and then the longshot game against Arizona
