Simon wasn't at the team banquet and hasn't been out recruiting. A lot of people think he's gone. Nothing is confirmed

Why? I thought Avery was happy with the staff at the moment. If he is gone, we need to hurry up and replace him. No reason to be recruiting with one less guy.

And I still don't get why Key wouldn't hire an agent if he's determined to go.

Keeps open possibility of transferring as well.

I don't think he'll transfer and sit a year. He'll come back or go overseas

Well shite, should have put on a full court press for Porter Sr as an assistant.

If you want to make yourself feel better and believe that Key won't transfer if he chooses to withdraw from the draft, go look at his twitter. You can tell he loves Avery and he even retweeted something about Petty. I don't think he's gonna transfer. He'll either stay at Bama or enter the draft.

I can't believe they haven't had contact with him for a couple of weeks. That kills my confidence level.
He's probably good enough to play overseas, but will that really help him? I feel like it's a bad move and unless he becomes an absolute stud, it's going to be more likely he is overlooked.

BOL - BREAKING: Bob Simon relieved of duties at Alabama
"Relieved of duties" does not sound good. Hopefully no NCAA concerns.

That's what I was thinking. Relieved of duties is a lot different from "has left the program."
Unless this is for off-the-court reasons, this sounds ominous.

Wonder who we'll go after and get.

If you leave on your own, you have "left the program". If you get fired for not doing what the boss wants, you are "relieved of duties".
Lets not read too much into this yet. There is no mention in the link about anything being investigated.

I wonder if we'll go after Mo Williams to fill that spot. He just started coaching. I would absolutely love to hire him.

I would like us to find a guy that's really good with coaching bigs. We have a lot of young bigs that aren't very skilled on the offensive end.
Posted on 5/1/17 at 4:15 pm to ArabianKnight
I thought Pelphrey worked with the bigs
Posted on 5/1/17 at 4:19 pm to TomRollTideRitter
Avery did play with him...

That would be incredible. No reason to believe it, but it would be crazy.
