For sure. Actually I can think of a few teams that would beat 2016 Bama. 2004 USC for sure. 2011 LSU. 2008 Florida. 2011 Bama. 2014 Ohio St.

Those teams could beat Bama but Bama could beat them too.

1995 Nebraska would slaughter them all in my opinion.

The 2001 Miami offense is the type Alabama is built to stop. The real question is if Alabama could do anything against the 2001 Miami defense. I think 2012 Alabama would be a better matchup.

Agree. That 2012 team was the most rounded of the Saban era to me on the offense side, with the O-line called the GOAT in college at the time, 4 NFL running backs, and Amari Cooper at WR.

That Miami team produced 6 1st team All Americans and 13 1st team all conference players. They had 38 players off that team drafted who went on to produce 50 All Pro selections in the NFL. Bama is talented, but there isn't a team that has ever out talented that team that I'm aware of.

Alabama has eaten immobile pro style QB led teams up for a decade. The mismatch of this front 7 against that 2001 era line and scheme would be EPIC. I think it would take the great Miami skill players almost completely out of the game.

Likewise, the kind of read option, spread, and HUNH concepts this Alabama team is sporting on offense was not something Miami would be fluent in to defend. Even in the NFL, you saw teams get gashed with it for a few seasons until they learned to defend it with hybrid safety/LB types.

NFL accomplishments are kind of tangential to assessing college players. Tim Tebow was arguably the best college player over a career of the last 30 years, for example.

They didn't even win all their games that year by a few TD.

I would love to see that.

I would not love to see 2016 Miami play 2016 Alabama.

1995 Nebraska was the most powerful team I've ever seen but I'm not sure a Saban defense couldn't slow it down with some preparation. I'd give my left nut to see that game. 2001 Miami was the most talented but didn't always play disciplined or inspired. 2004 USC may be the best all around team I've seen.

Depends what he means by easily, but that team was easily more talented so I don't see it as that controversial of a statement.

Funny, I played this game on their simulator with 2015 UA and 2001 UM 10 times (5 home and away) and it had Alabama winning 7/10 times.

But it's 2016! No way Ed Reed could keep up with the superheroes on this Alabama team!

I doubt it, Bama is a matchup night mare for them. The canes built their tradition off of beating slow big 12 teams.

Advancement in training and technology is creating better athletes. It's not speculation. It's actual science dipshit lol

How do the numbers compare for this Alabama team vs that Miami team?

Who cares about this stupid hypothetical matchup except for Alabama and Miami fans?

On a related note, who would win: this year's Cubs or the 1927 Yankees?

We're talking 15 years ago, not 50. You're telling me those Miami players wouldn't dominate today? All those players that had long NFL careers?
