Mount Rainer NP was the first park I visited and caught the bug. I've since been to 21 of the 58 National Parks and several in Canada. My goal is to visit every one. My favorite is Yosemite NP.

Glacier is amazing.
Yellowstone was cool, but really crowded when we went.
Really want to go to Big Bend and Yosemite.

Rocky Mountain blew me away. I was expecting it to be beautiful but had no idea how amazing it would be.
Smoky Mountains is great too! Been there so much it feels like home.

Yellowstone has been my favorite in my limited experience. I've also been to the Grand Tetons, Smokey Mountains, and Mesa Verde. All of which are super awesome.

I love Glacier!! It is a close tie for second between Glacier and Zion for me.
Yellowstone was extremely crowded when we went too. It was neat. Really enjoyed the Norris Geyser Basin and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Did not spend enough time there to really give it justice and see everything. It is a Massive park.
Planning on going to Big Bend and all those along I-10 in the next year or so. Yosemite valley is crowded as hell but off the charts beautiful. Tuolumne Meadows is heaven on earth.

I agree. Although Glacier and Zion are not too far behind imo.

I actually like Grand Teton better than Yellowstone. The Tetons are the most striking range in the U.S. Imo. Love Jenny Lake. Haven't been to Mesa Verde but want to visit soon.

Nevermind. Found it. Thanks man.

Tell me about Grand Tetons if you could
I am looking at going there and Glacier in the next year or 2
I too have just recently started seeing National Parks and am trying to make a point to visit more

It was about 30 years ago when I went to Yellowstone. We spent 4 or 5 days there, and my dad was so frustrated with the crowds. We stumbled upon a somewhat secluded part of the park that had a picnic area next to the river. Just a huge field on the river bank with the mountains in the background. We ended up spending the whole afternoon there, throwing the football, fishing, napping, whatever. It's one of my favorite family memories, yet somehow mom never thought to take a picture. We have literally hundreds of pics from that trip except that one afternoon.

That sounds like us. We went in 2008 and got tired of all of the crowds around Old Faithful, etc. Good thing about Yellowstone and most National Parks is that you don't have to go far to get away from the crowds. (Unlike Disney World). I don't like being around a lot of people so the parks is where I go to find solace. My family and I have had lots of days like you mentioned in the parks. More important than a picture is the memory you have of that day. Sounds to me like you have a pretty good mental image of that day 30 years later. Kills me when I see people taking all of these pictures instead of just enjoying the moment. I'm not shocked when I see people getting trampled by bison while trying to get a selfie with one.

I'm getting married in September and then plan on dragging my fiance all over the country to every national park I want to go to.
I didn't grow up with a lot, so I haven't really seen shite outside of cities that my job has sent me to. I love the outdoors (live in TN, makes it easy) and it's a bucket list of mine to hit Rainier, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Mount Zion, etc
i've been to the Ozarks and Smokies, and the Smokies is awesome.

I can easily agree with this. Take nothing away from Yellowstone though. Those sulfer pools are amazing, I just enjoyed the Tetons more.
Short story: While we were in Grand Teton National Park, you can drive down little dirt roads and kinda explore things on your own. We drove and pulled a fifth wheel there so we were in my Dad's crew cab F350 dual wheel truck. We stopped watching a herd of buffalo. Before we knew it as the buffalo were crossing the road they were completely surrounding our truck. One of the larger bulls turned and faced the truck right in front of us and started pounding the ground like he was going to ram the front of our truck.
Long story short, he didn't. I still shat my pants.
I wish I would have been a little older when we made that trip. I would definitely have appreciated Mesa Verde a lot more, but it was still really cool.

One of the oddest parks I have been to is Devil's Tower.
I don't even really know how to describe it.
1267 ft tall.
ETA: National Monument apparently. Not a park.

Get ready to have your mind blown. It will change your life. I had no idea we had places this beautiful in the U.S.. It makes you proud that our country was wise enough to save these areas for future generations to enjoy. It was truly "America's Best Idea".
If I were you, I would map out a good route to catch the parks you want to see. The parks you mentioned are little far apart from one another.
September is the perfect time for most parks but be carfeful about Yellowstone. Could easily be snowing there when you visit. Would be fun to visit while snow is there but driving may be difficult.
I love hiking in the smokies. Haven't been to the Ozarks but would love to hike there. Closest I got was Hot Springs NP.
